True. But as a general fan neither game gets me very excited and won't have my attention for the full broadcast. The storyline might be better but I can't see Cle/NYG generating a larger national audience than SF/DAL even if those teams are playing poorly.

I mean maybe if the QBs were Jimmy G and Dak that'd be true, but seriously, who wants to watch Nick Mullens and Andy Dalton?

Fewer Cowboys night games are always a good thing.

I don't disagree on Mullens vs Dalton but at the same time it is tough to get excited to watch the Giants and their offense that ranks in the bottom 5 of the NFL. Daniel Jones likely is not going to be setting off any fireworks.

I don't know how the scheduling works and the rules for flexing a game like this but it is too bad that they can't get NO/KC or even NE/Mia for that night.

That's two primetime games in a row for the Browns. And the Week 17 Steelers-Browns game is also a candidate to be moved to primetime if it's for the division and doesn't clash with any other races.

CBS and FOX get to protect a certain number of games in the flex period, only for week 17 does NBC get to pick any game. A game with playoff implications is always going to be more interesting than a game with draft pick implications, and it does include the biggest media market in the league. Easy call for NBC.

The Giants represent the biggest TV market in the country. Now they are in the playoff race it's an easy call and there will be a lot of people tuning in to see the Browns finally make the playoffs. It's more about what game will bring in the best TV viewership rather than what may be the best matchup.

I mean everything being equal SF-DAL is a bigger TV game, Bay Area is top 5 TV market and the Cowboys arguably the #1 national TV team. But everything is not equal as the Cowboys are piss poor right now and the 49ers have a backup QB and are not very good either at present. Even Cowboy fans aren't going to tune in just to see the Boys, they are completely unwatchable with the worst defense in the league and Dalton as QB.

Yes but the NY market on its own is still larger than Bay area and Dallas market combined. It's always a no-brainer when a NY team is in contention which sucks because I feel I ended up watching much more of Eli Manning's thoroughly mediocre career than I needed to. I don't think the SF/Cowboys game would draw nearly as much given the state of both teams.

This is why the NFL needs Trevor on the Jets.

Not if it results in Trevor getting wrecked like what happened to Burrow.

I just looked it up - Trevor is 3 years younger than Burrow. Maybe they won't rush him along?

Patriots proceed to kick the ball through the end zone...

Should of kicked the FG and just got on the board. I know they try to play to Cams strengths but this play calling is brutal.

It's hilarious to look back now after the Seahawks game, lots of talk about what a steal the Pats got in Cam. Now they've kinda dicked up their season, probably should have gone full tank for Trevor, but now gonna be picking way too low for a QB. Guess we can pencil them into the Wentz "chase".

Have to imagine Cam's time as a starting NFL QB is coming close to the end. Pats don't have good receivers but he's just not a very good passer. Pats should have a lot of available cap space next season and I wouldn't be surprised if they draft a QB and sign Brissette.

If NE needs to move on from Cam I think they should try to get Darnold out of NY and give him a chance on a team that has some real coaching and potentially decent offensive support. I still think that Darnold could turn into a reliable #1 QB for the right team.

Jets are pretty stupid as we know, but there's absolutely no chance they trade Darnold to the Pats, unless the Pats badly overpay.
