Also you would hope that the bureaucrats that are making up the rules ( and bending them to allow Canadian teams to hold training camps) would allow trans-border travel with no quarantine for players who already have recovered from Covid or had a vaccine or met the covid testing protocol that allow travel from US to Rome and Amsterdam with no quarantine on arrival.
 |
I hope they wouldn't bend any rules.

you know the outcry if the rules were bent for NHL players to have the a quarantine exception?
I really, really doubt the government will bend the rule for a bunch of hockey playing millionaires.

I think it just means Calgary, Vancouver and Edmonton are screwed if they have big covid outbreaks on their teams.

I wonder if border crossing is an issue, if we might see more call-ups from junior than in a normal year. The NHL could possibly work out an agreement with the CHL (and NHLPA if they have a say in it) to relax what constitutes an emergency call-up.

If teams are able to carry 10 extra players, it would take a massive number of injuries to run out of warm bodies.

I would think goalies would be the biggest risk, and it wouldn't help the Flames because their only junior goalie is an American playing in the States, so recalling him would be as tough as any of the players in Stockton.

Assuming they can use the rapid-testing at the airport when they arrive, players would only need to quarantine for 4 days after crossing the border.

Same with the Canadian Division outside of the Flames.

One positive is that we have an adequate 3rd string goalie this year in Doningue, knock on wood we don't have to go down to our 6th stringer Brathwaite again (even though he was awesome).

Yeah, I'm sure Treliving anticipated this situation and Domingue was signed specifically to be a taxi squad player while Parsons and Zagidulin share the net in Stockton.

Just because of the injury history of Markstrom and Rittich, it wouldn't be a shock to see them both go down even at the same time.

I dunno. I think the Canadian division could be fun. We lose all the ####ing trash California teams and gain a couple O6 teams

Plus, you know the Jets are probably pissed off at us, so those games should be entertaining

Assuming the Flyers are supposed to be the 8th team in the East, I'm surprised they're splitting up the Pens and Flyers.
I was expecting the Pens and Sabres to be flipped from that plan.

Detroit might not win a game all season in that Division.

I feel like it's a miss to not have St. Louis and Chicago together. Minnesota would have to go west, though. Maybe it's because the Wild were stuck in the Northwest Division for all those years that they get a break here.

If I was a Sabres fan I wouldn’t be too happy about that. Almost impossible for them to finish in a playoff spot in that division now.
