Fun fact #2, every tree in the city was hand planted.

Things you might miss:
Zoo, mountains, traffic. There are good restaurants here but not much of a club life not that I’d really know about that.

I’ve had good experiences with the hospitals here if kids are in the future. They have the same problems as Calgary. My wife had cancer a few years back and her care was excellent here and she has fully recovered. You know in case you were planning on that you’re good lol.

Like I mentioned real estate is not that much different than Calgary which I was surprised by as well.

You could definitely be happy here if you wanted to. As for friends I guess we have made friends with all our neighbours and through work mostly. There’s lots of different things to join as well.
Qu’Appelle is really a beautiful hidden gem in sask.

If the cold bothers you don’t go. It’s like Calgary, 8 degrees colder and no chinooks. It has real winter not the facsimile we get here.

That said it has great summers, hot days and hot evenings. Regina has the same lack of lake problem that Calgary does relative to Saskatoon which is 1.5 hrs from lots of good lakes.

Is it a pretty hard place to get any kind of friend group going?
Regina is actually a pretty good place to live & raise a family. It’s easy to get around, everything is pretty close to a 15 minute drive.

You’re on the #1 so it’s twinned to drive up Calgary, Winnipeg & Saskatoon.

The lake in the city is great for paddling.

Outside of the pragmatic logistics in getting around, which are superior to Saskatoon because the city isn’t split by a significant river, it kind of drops off.

The closest thing to Regina is Saskatoon. You are 9 hours from the mountains, 5 hours from Cypress hills or the lakes in Northern Sask.

However Lake Diefenbaker is under 2 hours and it’s a pretty amazing place for boating, sailing, & fishing.

If you find a great neighborhood which Regina has, join some paddling/biking/x-country ski clubs. It’s a fabulous place to raise a family and have a short commute anywhere in the city,
