I loved YTV circa 1988.
THE SPIRIT OF YOUTH! - They had all these shorts about young Canadians doing active things, it was great.
Not so much in the 90s with Phil and the Zone, etc. (I remember seeing the first episode of the Zone where it was actually called the Afterschool Zone)
I remember when they launched... big shindig with John Candy hosting. That's about all I remember about it. I think it was a highlight thing showing what YTV was going to be about.
I also remember "Ghostbusters"... not "The REAL Ghostbusters" but the one with the Gorilla. Good stuff.
Denver the last dinosaur, i remember that one. And they used to show the old school batman episodes, those were really fun as a kid. I really wasn't into all this newage crap like reboot and power rangers.
Phil was a great guy. I met him at the Stampede one year and we were talking about rage against the machine and such....it was good. My brother was in the group that watched the show, whereas I was older and just thought that he had a cooler kids show.
I was always a fan of his morning show 'pants dance' where he would put his hands in his back pockets, turn around so his butt faced the camera and would wiggle his back pockets back and forth.
Wow! I couldn't see the videos at work (no flash installed) but I just noticed you had the CG demos that YTV would always play. I loved the one with the musical instruments and objects flying around. Those things were like LSD to a kid.
