The jersey is ok/fine. Like a 5-6/10 IMO, and I like the original Blastys.
Just feels like a missed opportunity not to fix the letters/captiancy/numbers inconsistencies, and having white in both logos on the jersey, the letters, and the numbers but not on the jersey at all seems like a poor choice aesthetically, like it's breaking some rule of design. It resembles both Canucks black jerseys and Team Germany as a result.
Like I said, it's ok but I think just 2 small changes would have made it an 8-9/10 for me:

Athletic article going over each jersey and it's inspiration.
https://theathletic.com/2197864/2020...-31-new-looks/
This forum may not reflect it but lots of Flames fans adore this jersey. It's the only jersey that the Adidas guy talked about fan enthusiasm;
Quote:
“I can’t believe the enthusiasm for Blasty in Calgary,” Near said. “The Flames must’ve known. They’re educated and they know their fans, but it caught me off guard as far as the energy.”

I will buy one but I think is going to more popular among 35 year olds and younger. I loved this jersey when I was young.

Never let an opportunity to do something cool and stylish come to fruition.

Y'know what would've been cool? If one of the O6 teams had a jersey in greyscale as if it were on an old black&white tv

That would’ve been awesome.

Yeah, what a difference with a white stripe. Makes sense too, given the white C's on the shoulders and white numbering. Yeah just the two dark stripes they went with looks kinda weird, yours is much better

I wonder if we're gonna use those awful 2009 socks with these, as the angled swirl seems to be consistent with the jersey design.

They somehow made the original Blasty jersey look better... it gets a fail here... but this whole horrible marketing scheme is one of the worst ideas the NHL has done since the superhero campaign. I’d rather them just brought back the original Blasty jersey, on the bright side 90% of the new jersey’s are god awful.

The simple fact that the model in the pic is wearing a red hoodie gives me hope they'll use red helmets, gloves and pants with these. That would make the colour choices a bit more palatable IMO.

Yup, as mentioned they are just recycling previous name and number fonts lazily and ignoring details. No other team has a different captain c and number outlines.
You'd have to assume black pants and mostly black socks. Lets hope there are no white lines on the socks at least.
I just remembered this too regarding the Blasty logo. Going back to Fall 2003 on this forum and this was brought up (by Jordan?) when we started getting the new red jerseys after pre-ordering them. Some jerseys had the Blasty logo on the shoulder with no white outline. I think it was size XL jerseys and above.
That borderless logo would look better on this 2020 Blasty version since the rest of the jersey does not have any white stripes.

I agree. Not a huge blasty fan but the RR version is much better than the original. However, it could have been a complete win had they adopted the changes you made here. This would have been excellent. Oh well, at least it’s not an atrocity, and maybe (?) they’ll clean up the inconsistent borders a bit for the actual jersey. Exclusively red-bordered captain’s C looks really odd with yellow and red numbers.

Your version looks very good too, but I love the minimalism of the actual design. With black pants, helmets, and gloves the Flames are going to look very sleek on the ice.
It reminds me of the Kings home jerseys. They always look bigger and more intimidating when covered mostly in black. I think this is a perfect third jersey. A modern take on a cult classic that looks good and has some fun too.
I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

The model is wearing a red hoodie because they showed up wearing one.

that looks awesome AC!
the only thing that bugs me with the above jersey is...
the shoulder C goes white/black/gold
the numbers (capt/asst capt) go white/red/gold
they should be consistent

This is magnitudes a better design. The white in the Flaming C and letters should require a white striping. Just so much more aesthetically pleasing.
The jersey as is looks unfinished, or maybe just kind of bare.

If Blasty is the cost of having the proper (no black) colour palette restored for home and away uniforms, then it is well worth it. Black belongs in the 1990's and/or on 3rd/4th jerseys.
I have never loved it, but I'm totally fine with it.

I don't mind it - never loved Blasty but I get what it is, it's a secondary logo that's a bit more cartoonish and isn't meant to be taken as seriously. As cartoon logos go I always liked the SJF Dragon way better.
I've always hated the chevron hems but this is decent when they are the same color as the primary.
Now that I read AC's edits, while the lack of white striping isn't as big a deal for me the one thing that bugs me a bit is the difference between the captain's C and the shoulder numbering. Easy thing to make that consistent, just looks sloppy.
Also, FFS adidas can you make a normal cut that doesn't have arms that are way too long. Even in the guy modelling you can see it. The number of people who wear these over equipment <<<< those wearing them to games in street clothing. And the fanatics fan versions are garbage.

I get that people don’t like Blasty but this is absurd. There is no way this is even close to being at the bottom.
I think it’s one of the best, but at worst it’s middle of the road. There’s some seriously awful stuff there. This isn’t even close.
