Need to pay for the Chase center in SF so maybe share that with the Warriors? They could also go to Oracle for a year that building is empty

Pretty much. Seems like first salvo in the "Pay me for a new arena for my team" discussion.

That sounds incredibly vague.
"there's too much construction in this city, so we're gonna move"
What?

Step one in getting a new arena.
With the Isles and Flames getting their new buildings, San Jose and Anaheim will have the oldest buildings in the league.

I am wondering if they "attempt" to work with the city and realize "unfortunately there are no workable solutions". Then starts a year of back and forth, threats, and San Jose city caving and a mutual new location is selected for a $500-600MM arena. Old arena is torn down and land sold to Google.
Round and round it goes.

There is definitely a market in the Bay area for NHL hockey, so I wouldn't expect them to move far.

If they move to Oakland they have to rebrand as the Seals for at least two seasons. Bonus points if they relocate to Cleveland after.

But Sacramento? Gross.

Sacramento is Versailles compared to Oakland.

I bet they build somewhere near the 49ers' new stadium.

I think the NHL likes being the only member of the big 4 leagues to claim San Jose as home, so I imagine the league will do as much as possible to support them. Moving to Sacremento, or closer to SF or Oakland puts them in more direct competition with the NBA and NFL.

Yeah...this is just posturing.
"Oh...hey, while you're building stuff....."
But Anaheim...wow. That arena. Its basically just a convention centre in a parking lot surrounded by stripmalls and chain restaurants.

It is a real nice building. Doesn’t seem like there is a huge benefit to replace, but what do I know?

If Versailles was a boring hole filled with boring people, I guess. Sac sucks.

Oakland no longer has the NBA or the NFL. And the A's wouldn't really be competition.
You'd still attract some people from across the bridge and the south bay in Oakland. Basically the same with SF. But nobody is travelling to Sac for a Sharks game.

Not unless Marleau is waiting 5-10 years to play those 46 games.
