It's only a coup if it's from the coup d'état region of France.
Otherwise it's just a sparkling authoritarian takeover.
(credit goes to some random tweet I saw a while ago).

Sigh. The shenanigans with the counting right now is completely unrelated to mail in votes. The counts right now are associated with people who requested mail in ballots then took them to polling stations late in the day and dropped them off.
Arizona has had main in voting for years and never had a problem with it. In fact, Arizona was able to turn around results on election night so quickly because of mail in voting. Arizona allows you to submit you ballot two to three weeks before election day, and as those ballots come in they are registered and counted. Where we ran into problems is Republicans held their mail in ballots back and didn't return them as they normally do, as directed by Trump, which caused an influx of late ballots that had to be handled and verified by workers already working on verifying the ballots from election day.
This was a self inflicted wound because of the stupidity from the Trump campaign and the voters not following state issued instructions. To make matters worse, the "sharpie" vote issue (caused by the Governor's office) required extra supervision which slowed the vote that much more. If people had just followed instructions and not listened to the Trump campaign this would have been put to bed and verified by now.

As of this morning, Biden's lead in GA is still over 14,000.
The lead in AZ continues to drop slightly, as he now only leads by 12,800. But at this point I doubt it flips back to red.

Trump is completely Russia’s useful idiot.
I started watching this last night.
https://www.thegreatcoursesplus.com/...media-literacy
Quote:
This course is designed to help you identify misinformation, blunt its effects on you, and prevent it from spreading. It is based on the Learn to Discern (L2D) methodology that IREX, a global nonprofit organization, developed in 2015 in Ukraine to help citizens detect and fight Kremlin propaganda that was spreading throughout the information ecosystem.
course scope.
Since that time, as misinformation has increased as a global problem, IREX has continued to build media literacy skills through L2D in Ukraine, the US, and about a dozen other countries. L2D is practical, fun, easy to use and to teach to others, and specifically designed for the complex digital information age we live in. Research studies have shown that it is effective in building resilience to misinformation that holds up over time.
This course provides key background on the information age that
we live in. The course outlines how journalism has changed as it confronts the digital age and why this impacts our ability to access reliable, factual information. Additionally, the course delves into various ways that information can be manipulated and why the wiring of our brains makes us susceptible to manipulative information.
The course also teaches practical skills, including a technique to assess information consumption, tools and skills for visual and textual verification, and a powerful method to resist having your rational brain hijacked by provocative content.

Russia doesn’t actually care about Trump or the USA. He wants to disrupt sow confusion, chaos, and division.
He’s done this on the vaccine discussion, creating instigating rhetoric that fuels division on both sides.
He doesn’t care what the topic is, he wants to see the West implode.

Agreed Arizona going blue pretty much destroys Trumps path to 270 and can speed up the process to sending Donnie out of office. Trump may be blowing noise and spliting America with his doubt on the election system. I have no doubt this was expected and theres plans from within to make sure there will be a peaceful transfer of power regardless what Trump wants.
Mitch will eventually have to make a choice, as of now hes just stated Trump has his rights to make sure every vote has been counted, before the election has been decided. If Mitch casts doubt on the ballots, those same ballots for now have given Mitch a great chance to continue as a majority leader of the senate. Can't say the ballots are illegal when both names are on the ballot.

It's the unusually high number of mail in ballots.
Hard to process them quickly with mitts on.

So Trump showed up late to Arlington today. Well past the 11/11/11 significant time for the ceremony, while everyone there waited in the rain. He stayed 6 minutes.
He is beyond disgusting and disrespectful and such a scumbag.

Trump launches new lawsuit in Michigan, trying to prevent the certification of the results. I'm guessing this one will be thrown out just like the last one. They're really grasping at straws here.
https://www.freep.com/story/news/pol...ts/6240698002/
Quote:
The campaign of President Donald Trump said Tuesday it is suing Michigan in federal court in an effort to prevent final certification of the state's election results, as Trump continues to refuse to concede to Joe Biden or accept the outcome of the race for the presidency.
The allegations of election misconduct are similar to those outlined in other lawsuits in Michigan and additional states. These lawsuits have largely not succeeded; some incorporate allegations that have been debunked or refuted, either by the Free Press or elections officials.
|
Quote:
While the campaign and its attorneys called for patience and said the lawsuit would instill confidence in the electoral process, no one would commit to the lawsuit changing the outcome of the race in Michigan or nationally, where Biden has a sizeable advantage.

I think that's what a lot of people need to understand here. These countries meddling in democracy DGAF who wins or loses, as long as they cast the seeds of doubt whether or not democracy actually works.
I listened to a really interesting Joe Rogan podcast where he had an ex navy seal on it who made some really good points about this. He basically said their job when they went into a country to overthrow someone was to do whatever they could to destabilize their system, which is EXACTLY what is happening right now through all these misinformation campaigns. Trump isn't Russia's personal puppet, he's PRECISELY the useful idiot they can take advantage of to try and throw a wrench into one of the most powerful democracies on the planet.
The sooner this orange skid stain fades into obscurity the better, as far as I'm concerned. His ego has become a danger to SO much more than people realize.

I feel the opposite actually. I think military support for Trump likely aligns quite well with the voting results of the general public, so close to 50/50 at least.

I'm not so optimistic. Florida had a lot of mail-in ballots, which he won, and he's fine with that. He is a petulant child. I mean sure, he's 74 years old and should be more mature and all that, but he just isn't.

With chatter about Trump winning Nd serving another term (very low chance) or losing and running again in 2024 it got me wondering about the chances he’ll even be alive in 2024.
I’d put those odds at less than 50-50. He’s had young siblings die, lives a *stressful life* and lives a sedentary lifestyle and eats poorly.
I mentioned his stressful lifestyle before and someone challenged that on the basis that watching Fox News and so much golfing isn’t stressful but I think he does get highly stressed. I’m reading my third book on Trump (Donald Trump v the United States) and I believe he has a great deal of stress. He has to worry about what happens after he’s out of office (criminal charges perhaps).
I give him a 40% chance of being alive in four years but maybe he beats the odds.

I think he will be in jail. I don't think he'll be running.

These Republicans are being so disingenuous with their ‘he has a right to make sure all votes are counted properly’ line while ignoring the fact that he’s screaming fraud and de-legitimizing the election for a large swath of the electorate. One is a legal right the other is borderline the incitement.
