^ It probably has to do with the fact that both Perdue and Loeffler (Both big Trumpers) are asking the Republican Secretary of State to resign over this election, citing...nothing? Oh, right, they didn't like the outcome. Boo hoo.

It's going to create a civil war in the Republican party the more that these idiots follow Trump down the rabbit hole of citing election fraud that isn't there. It hurts their chances of ever forming a government in the future, so yeah, The Lincoln Project is anti-Trump even when it comes to his acolytes.

I listened to Rick Wilson and his 'the new abnormal' podcast yesterday and he said they were not only against Trump but 'trumpism'. So it continues.

yes but losing the senate would be more than Trumpism wouldn't it? It might be the point of no return, even for Lincoln Republicans.

The senate is unequally weighted towards red states. They'll get it back in no time if they can fix their party. It's more important in their eyes to defeat the ideas of Trump that have infiltrated the Republican party.

It will be a tough battle to win. GOP leaders only have so much influence over primaries. It seems in primaries, the racist, BS spouting populist guy will usually win even if he doesn't have a shot at the general.
I saw this play out in Virginia. When I moved here around 2002, it was a fairly reliably red state. It shifted to light blue for Obama, but the state was pretty purple. Then the Tea Party started gaining influence and their guy would win nearly every state-wide primary, and every time the Tea Party guy had no chance of winning the general election, whereas a moderate might have. They got a bunch of their guys in deep red local districts, and then started ramming them in the moderate districts and started losing all those districts as well.
Now Virginia is a strong blue state.
I don't know how you stop your Republican voters from nominating deplorable candidates with little chance of winning elections.

I see Don Jr. and his plastic girlfriend are working on a takeover of the RNC. Let's see how that goes. Spineless GOP will likely help them rename the party to "the First Family of the World".

The problem for the traditional Republican party is that Trump has such a fervent base that they're afraid of him starting his own party and splitting the right. I'm sure he has threatened this, which is why McConnell has gone out in public to support his legal challenges

I hadn't thought of that. That's a good point. I think they also want to make sure that Trump voters come out to that Jan. 5 runoff.

I have listened to a few of those podcasts in the lead up to this election. Its mostly enjoyable aside from the super annoying cackle from Molly Jong-Fast. Sounds like a witch on the line. Kinda gives me the creeps.

So it's in everyone's interest that Trump dies. Time to send in seal team 6, or some Russian tea, or some ricin crispies for the idiot.

I despise Trump and believe that he is an abhorrent person, but this (even if in jest) is in bad taste (especially in the context of current tensions).

I dont wish Trump dead in the pejorative sense, but it would be a good thing if he was dead, if he stroked out tomorrow the world would be a much safer place and the chances of millions of Americans dying in some form of coup or mass unrest would be reduced
The same applies to Erdogun in Turkey or Putin, the world would be better off if they all were dead

I seem to recall a few months ago Trump retweeted a conspiracy theory whose gist was that not only did they not get Bin Laden, but that Obama had then had them all killed to cover that up.
Sorry, Makarov. I disagree. There are certain people who the world would be substantially better off without, and there are many places to stand, philosophically, to wish they were dead. Most people wouldn't get past utilitarianism on that one.

No need to apologize. People disagree with me all the time (and often rightly so).
I don't disagree with the statement that "the world would be a better place if Donald Trump died". But, even accepting that, calling for assassination is a bridge too far for me.
Johnny Makarov and I share the same CalgaryPuck-username-surname, and therefore are practically brothers. I hope he doesn't take any offence when I politely disagree with him.

That's a good point. It nearly happened in the recent past with the Tea Party movement.
Even the Democrats and Republicans were created from the fracturing of a party. These things happen occasionally.
The Democrats formed after Jefferson's Democratic-Republican Party fractured into the Democratic Party and the National Republican Party, which itself fractured into parties, on of which became the Republican Party.
We saw similar fractures and re-branding of Conservative Parties in Canada. Anecdotally, it look like right wing parties seem susceptible to having a certain number of people wanting to take their ball and go home. I am not sure if it is the dislike for compromise or change that causes it, or if it is just a money thing.
