I couldn't care less what he does next. The greatest victory today is that I don't have to actively think about Donald Trump anymore.
Oh sure, he'll be in the background ranting and raving, but people see him for who he is. His power is diminished or gone completely now. The country is waking up from a spell.
####, I mean, I could legitimately run into him since he lives at Mar A Lago which is only about 30 minutes from me. I'd be happy to just see him ####ing around on a golf course and doing literally nothing else for the remainder of his days.

Exactly this. I know many of us are hoping for a bit of schadenfreude, but ignoring him is the perfect "punishment" that doesn't require us to lower ourselves. Don't let him bring you down towards his level of pettiness and vindictiveness. Just ignore him, and we can start by letting this thread die.

Yup. I cut my very abusive mother off 9 years ago last month (I only just realized that when I started this post). I've seen her 3 times since then, not my choice, and the last time I did she said "I know you hate me but" - I cut her off immediately and said "No. You're wrong. I don't hate you. You are not worthy of that emotion. You are, however, worthy of my indifference. I rarely think of you. My life became immeasurably better without you in it. So no, no hate. I just don't care." I'm told it makes her incandescent with rage. *shrug*
She comes up in convo at home, every once in a blue moon or instances like this, but beyond that, she just isn't a part of our daily life or thoughts.

A pardon basically lets a lot of bad people off the hook and for what purpose? I think it would be healthier for the American people who believed Trump's lies, to see this play out as it would for anybody else who didn't have the privilege of being president. Maybe it will awaken the 71 million Americans who thought he was infallible. Maybe it won't, but at least it might not embolden the next less-than-savoury character from using the office to enrich themselves.
Giving him a pardon just because it was president, is no better than police or lawyers / judges who only get a reprimand or less for actions that would otherwise lead to jail time for someone else.
