Really enjoyed the 2nd episode. Those spider things were horrifying.
Also, it's obvious that they have a bigger CGI budget for this season. The chase with the two X-wings looked amazing, and there was that one shot from inside Mando's cockpit where you could clearly tell they were using models. I love that they use a lot of practical effects in this show.

My only question is that why are all the X-Wing Pilots like 60 Year Old Cops who are days away from Retirement?

The one on the right. She became famous for a while as the only topless actress in Star Wars history. Who was promptly eaten by a Rancor.

If it makes anyone feel any better, that's just from the extra footage shot for the Special Edition (the two women in the photo aren't in the original version of the movie).
Here's what the real Boba Fett actor from ESB and ROTJ looked like...

It was a good episode, It wasn't a great or interesting episode, but that happens. Having two monster of the week episodes was a weird choice. Love that they bought back the Spiders from Rebels, too bad Mando didn't know that they hated sonic beacons. Also nice to see a Killik making an appearance as well.
Nothing though really stood out in the episode. I did laugh at the jerk move with the jet pack though.

I thought the episode was meh.
It didn't really advance the story at all, but I really loved when you heard the X-Wing pilots on the radio say to switch channels; they switch channels; then you see the wings move to attack formation. It really made you think "oh s***"
Not saying it was bad, just that, for me, it wasn't their best effort. Episode 2 of the season is a good spot for this episode.

Again...I'm surprised at this comment.
This is what this show is. There is an over-arching theme: "Return Baby Yoda to his kind."
But other than that this is basically a weekly serial. Its a different adventure each week. Of course its 'Villain/Creature/Problem' of the week. Of course it is. Thats what it is!
Nobody has said that its anything other than that, why are people surprised or disappointed when it happens?
And frankly...I think they've been killing it. As someone jaded with Star Wars I think this is the bright light. I look forward to the episodes.

Umma and Jung were officers in the Martian Congressional Republic Navy on The Expanse. Just need Janet and Kimchee to show up as Starfleet ensigns and the conscription of Kim’s Convenience characters into space militaries is complete.

This show is doing both Star Wars ship and monster action amazingly well. Frantic and tense but still clean and easy to follow. Of the recent movies, only Rogue One also got this right. The others indulged in the school of Rick McCallum maximum scene density nonsense.

I disagree
I thought it was a weak filler episode.
We already know that Mando lives by a Creed and only does bad things to bad people. Did we really need the X-Wing pilot to give us that rundown?

I guess I don't look at over arching story lines and themes in episodes. I just take the episode for what it is in isolation and that's how I derive my enjoyment out of it.
I liked the practical effects, I liked the action and I enjoyed the short story.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I liked the episode, I just thought it was too soon to have another monster episode.
For the most thought I really like the practical effects, it harkens back to when I grew up where models were skipping off of painted star field walls.
For the most part the effects in this episode were great. For some reason the Killik didn't look right, and it really pulled me out of things. I did chuckle at the clear model use from the cockpit view of the X-Wings.
They're adding little sound effects to Baby Yoda, but please don't make him start talking. Turns out its a bit of a jerk as well.
I keep looking at the Razor's Crest and wonder if it got its inspiration from the LAAT from Clone Wars on a bigger scale (One of my favorite ships from the PT).
Overall it was a good episode, it was designed to as stated above really pound in the concept of Mando's values and honor system.
Amy Sediris wasn't great last night in the episode,

That's the mechanic? She is the worst character on the show. She really seems out of place.

Ya I don't know if its just her acting style or the character or what but she just seems so awkward.
Obviously it wasn't one of the best episodes, I'd actually rate it among one of the worst (still a good episode but comparatively), I am just hoping it served some purpose for furthering the overall arc besides just a chance to Filoni to play his character again..

I actually like Peli Motto, because she has that over-the-top character that you would see from characters in movies from the 1970s to the 1990s.
There were characters like that in the original trilogy. She fits the mold. Kind of nostalgic, really.
The episode, I would agree was only okay. The concept of giant spiders attacking in a cave is so overdone. They already had the same thing in franchises like Lord of the Rings of Harry Potter.
This is a bit morbid, but I think this arc might have a bittersweet ending. What if the frog mom dies, but her husband manages to fertilize the eggs and continue the line?

If you didn't like this weeks episode, I'm not sure you will enjoy the rest of the season. Anyone expecting a deep overarching plot for this show will be disappointed. I personally like the monster/adventure of the week format, it works perfectly in the Star Wars Universe .
