Default What embarassing VINYL albums do you own?

Mr. Mister - Welcome to the Real World
Platinum Blonde - Standing in the Dark
Belinda Carlisle - Heaven On Earth
Glass Tiger - Thin Red Line
Was(Not Was) - What Up, Dog? ( I won this at a spring break dance contest in Daytona Beach back in '89 )

I still have them but I gave away my turntable last year - I hadn't even hooked it up in the last 10 years.

I didn't buy any vinyl after '87. Tapes were way more portable to haul to university, and in university I was introduced to lots of stuff that really shifted my musical tastes. (although I still do "air drumming" to the drum solo in "Standing In The Dark")

Not a ton, by the time I was old enough to start collecting music cassettes were the thing.

I do own Culture Club, Color by Numbers and The Jacksons Victory Album.

Don't be embarrassed. Everything eventually comes back in style.

I have for example, Styx - Mr. Roboto. The Soundtrack to Xanadu IIRC. A Star Wars disco version of the movie theme. I had every Kiss record at one time.

As for 8-tracks - well, let's just not go there. Lot's of K-Tel compilations.

I've looked through my dads album collection and seen The Eurythmics, Village People and the soundtrack to the Miami Vice television show.

I was a bit too young for vinyl, it was around but I was mostly a cassette consumer (although my dad had an awesome record collection)

it's possible the only vinyl LP I owned was Bob and Doug McKenzie (well that and a 45 of Rhinestone Cowboy when I was about 3)

There is nothing embarrasing about Styx - Mr. Roboto. That song rocks.

Holy crap i had that! i remember laughing so hard at that record as a kid. I barely remember the skits now but I would love to hear it again for the sake of nostalgia.

Lots. Vinyl is the new cd!

That one is embarassing just for the cover, but John Denver rules.

Michael Jacksons and Jackson 5 -- 14 Greatest Hits.

Sinead O'Connor records that I like but know would be frowned on.

A wack of Neil Diamond records, only embarassing because I have them all on CD, and I have a box set to boot.

The Police -- Don't Stand So Close To Me, The Singles. It's the same effing song played 4 different times on one record. It's the ultimate fanboy record. I mean what's the point? I didn't buy that one -- almost all my records are donated, inherited. The thing about vinyl is people tend to give it away.

Not embarassing, but I bought Powerslave at the Crossroads market last summer. The tag said $14 and, for the first time in my life, I haggled and it cost me 7 bucks.

All that being said, I don't feel any shame in putting this list up on the internet, so I guess they aren't embarassing at all.

Twisted Sister: Stay Hungry. Not one but two copies, one stolen from a roommate years ago. That sort of tells a story in itself, don't it?

I have the Eurythmics! There's nothing wrong with that!

The only one that I recall having as a hand me down from someone was an Elton John album.

i remember in the early 90s when vinyl was down to 3 factories (2 in canada) but then came back HUGE with dj's and lots of grunge special albums etc., i still see it around new so i guess it's still alive.

finding players may be interesting however, and do the yung'uns know that you have to clean the needle once in awhile...?

My turntable had been sitting in a shop, and one of my wife's friend's husband was showing me his tape collection, which was pretty much all of his albums that he had friends tape for him, and they were in poor shape. Since I wasn't using it, I said what the heck.

So I can sell some of these for $7 a piece, eh?

I may still have a 45 of Journey - Open Arms hiding in one of those sleeves.

I used to have vinyl collection of close to 400 LP's in mint condition. Mostly rock music from the 80's and early 90's. Then this past September someone came along and gave me $400 for my entire collection. A few days later sold my 2 turntables for another $100.

Wang Chung, Cyndi Lauper, Robert Palmer, Men At Work. I'm especially embarrassed about the Wang Chung album. I don't know what I was thinking about when I bought that one ... obviously not much.

I have a box of albums packed in the garage that I haven't seen in years. Probably the most embarassing would be Loverboy "Working for the Weekend."

I got rid of all the embarassing ones, but some of my cool ones are...

Weezer-Green album (green see through vinyl)
Strokes-Is this it? single (red vinyl)
Thursday-don't remember which song (marble vinyl)
Eminem-Infinite LP (very rare first album)

Every Radiohead album & many singles
