There is no sarcasm there is only Zul.

So yeah, I was a bit off the mark on that draft!

I wasn't stoked when we took Chucky either, bad skater whose numbers were inflated playing on one of the best lines in Junior I thought. I was so pissed when Edmonton got Pulurputty-they already had a generational player fall in their lap, Drai was in their system, and they were getting another star player for free.(I didn't think Dubois would be as good as he is)

My favourite Oilers draft comparison is from 2011
RNH: 1st overall. 443 points in 603 games.
Johnny Gaudreau: 104th overall. 445 points in 464 games.

You can add Monahan to that as well; except he was drafted TWO YEARS LATER.
Monahan: 194 g, 217 a, 411 pts. 541 gp.

2007:

Hopefully this link works. Wheel House Hockey, a social media hockey page on Facebook was finding the Oilers page amusing because they were practically hyping up Kahun as the next Gretzky.

Quite fascinating to see the "reasonable" totals that Loewtide is projecting for the Oilers - https://theathletic.com/2175842/2020...-21-the-goals/
Neal, Kassian, and Barrie at 14, Ennis at 15. Seems highly unlikely unless the PP keeps the high shooting % and that "third" line is a huge scoring line. Only players who scored more than 10 last year for the Oilers on their bottom six were Archibald and Chiasson.

To put this into perspective, only 1 defenseman in the league had more than 16 goals last year.

He has them increasing from an "on pace for 257" to get to 275, despite the crazy high shooting percentages that many of them had last season.
Good luck with that.

I was listening to 630 CHED today (I know but very limited choices here)
A caller to the show I was only half listening to complained about censored media in Canada. He claimed the Oilers removed his credentials after he published something negative on them (possibly in Europe)
How can a hockey team remove a journalist's credentials? Maybe I just heard the program wrong as reception is pretty bad. Caller name was Peter, but I doubt that helps at all.

"That guy is going to put up over a dozen goals on the fourth line because McDavid."
Logic as it pertains to the Oilers in the offseason.
Let us not forget virtually all offensive output vs the Blackhawks went through the Hart Bros. The rest of the team did nothing on its own.

Well....I think we all know a Peter who is a radio host in Europe, so I hope it wasnt him. But the Oilers are really touchy.
It wouldnt be the first time their media arm started punting people who weren't toeing the party line.
To put it into context...the Oilers would get a subtle nod of appreciation from the publishers of Pravda on how well they orchestrate their media presence.

Why do you think their local media are all shills? Katz has thin skin and ever since he took over the Oilers have been directing most of Oilers media as he even calls into Stauffer's radio show on air to tell him to tone it down if their discussion is getting overly negative on the team. I believe even Mark Spector was removed from doing RSN Oilers broadcast intermissions for being overly critical of the team.

With the re-signing of Strome by the Rangers let us never forget:
Eberle -> Strome -> Spooner -> Gagner -> Athanasiou + Kuffner to nothing and the Oilers somehow lost 2 2nd draft picks in this process.
Somehow Ken Holland has performed worse than Chiapet in this chain of trades
