Cap-wise, it's fine. But it leaves him as a UFA at 28.

A short term deal was the only way to keep Pulock at that cap hit.

Not even close to enough. Someone is going to have to go, and they will have to sweeten the deal to make it happen. They have 6 forwards (Lee, Nelson, Eberle, Bailey, Ladd and Pageau) making $5M+, and honestly, which one would you actually want at those prices? They had to overpay a couple to get them to stay, and now it's time to pay the piper. Oh, and they are all signed for at least another 2 seasons.

I see them having to ship out Eberle to somewhere like Nashville, Detroit, Florida, LA and having to throw in a couple of 2nds as the sweetener, and get like a conditional 4th in return.

Or, Nashville offer sheets Barzal. 5 years, $8.5 million per, which costs a 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Or (and most likely), NHL GMs sit on their hands and wait for Lout to get things figured out. Because that's the gentlemanly thing to do.

I feel like this is kind of the unspoken rule during this COVID offseason. Kind of a "we're all in this together, lets get through this" deal.

Isn't Nashville one of the teams operating on an internal budget below the cap?

Between the fixed cap and the shortage of cash, precious few teams can afford offer sheets right now. The first GM to try one will be royally screwed the minute he gets into cap or budget trouble himself, because 30 other GMs are going to say it serves him right.

Besides, I can't see an owner committing to spend an extra $39 million (since the other 5 years x $700,000 has to be spent anyway to fill the roster spot) until he knows where next year's revenue is coming from.

I think I’d rather have the guy who’s going to win the Eldorado as my GM. Nice guy...who cares? Great father....go play with your kids...
