It can't just go directly to SCOTUS for anything to be instantly handed on a platter. People need to cool down with the civil war rhetoric.

For fun I read the replies to that, if you consider two posters responding to you “ridicule” then yeah boy did you get ridiculed something vicious. Truly a wonder you were ever able to show your face again after facing such outright rejection and ridicule. We will pray for you.

It was really just one poster, and it was dino7c, so I'm not even sure he counts. I figured me putting that in all caps would make it pretty clear I wasn't serious but apparently no one has the capacity for that sort of nuance today, which I understand, but yknow, take a valium or something. Yeesh.

NBC, but when you drill down you get to see what the outstanding is by county, which makes a big difference. I'm running the numbers right now and modeling it on the percent left with the established trend by the county in question. I've done AZ and Nevada and the outstanding vote will only increase Biden's lead, and only by nominal amounts (AZ +1,177 lead expansion for Biden and Nevada +121 for Biden).

And it isn't an original idea either. The mail in delay plus Trump screaming fraud has been floated for months now by dozens of publications and political experts.

I was thinking something along these lines last night, when considering the polling data showing one result and the actual election results showing something else.
Personally, I think that the evangelicals are the perfect representation of a Trump voter: You can pretend to be a nice and kind and caring person on the outside (ie, tell pollsters that you are for Biden), but deep down and in private you are a selfish, pro-white-man, anti-immigrant, and hardcore “no handouts for anyone except for me” person (ie, vote for Trump).
The repression is deep with these people.

Well it sure wasn't a popular notion in that thread the week before. But fair enough... people really should have listened to all of those experts. Particularly on the 24 hour news networks.

But based on tonight, that isn’t your prototypical Trump voter.
EDIT: Last night. OOF

The clown show was not fun. It was dangerous. I REALLY hope Biden wins and it's decisive enough there are no SC shenanigans. The world needs a return to normalcy.

So even though I stated that the landslide calls were ludicrous and that the polls are garbage (and they have proven yet again to be wrong), and I love the sheer chaos in the US, last thing I want is a Trump win.
Even though Biden will be pretty bad for oil, Trump is bad for everything.
Just people need to realize America really is what it is, a cesspool of racism, strong devout religious zealots and people who deeply hate socialism.

If the Dems don't win the Sentate then I don't think a Biden win does much to undo the last 4 years.
It may help prevent any further destruction by ousting Trump but without a blue sweep, it'll just be 4 years of nothing until the GOP can convince the electorate that the Dems are useless.
Even though the real reason will be that the horrible GOP policies enacted under Trump will ruin the lives of the electorate and Biden will get blamed for it. And then the GOP blaming the Dems for it will get another republican elected president and control of both houses.
Rinse and repeat.

New Era - you seem to be well-versed in American politics and how voting is run/conducted.
Do you get much of a sense for electoral reform in the U.S.? Are the people/politicians pleased with the current setup or do you see a demand for changing the system?

I WAS RIDICULED
... Although the funnier part was when I made my projections based on a 2% polling error in favour of Biden and was accused of being ridiculous for having so little faith in the pollsters' assumptions, when it turns out I generally had far too much faith.
|
Yeah a lot of people here need to eat crow with the poll rethoric, they have failed to predict two elections in a row now. What's the point if you can just fall back on very generous margin of errors to say 'technically' we were still right?

Well, the way 538.com presents it they can never be wrong. It’s like a gambling site and they show percentages only. If Trump wins then they can say that he was at a 10% probability and it can happen.
SNL had a really good take Nate Silver.

There's lots Biden can do in terms of foreign policy, immigration, education, environment.. Heck he can try and organize a better response to the pandemic.
Basically he can undo all the things Trump did within the executive
