I feel the same way most of the time, but then I remember that I disliked Leland Irving, Brent Krahn, and Mason MacDonald-and they didn't pan out either....

I’m having the same fears, draft is two weeks out. Can we NOT get this guy trending until after that?

Was Daniil Chechelev called up to the KHL after all? Doesn't look like he's played any games there.
I thought he was supposed to be playing for HC Vityaz. It might be better for him to stay in the VHL (or even MHL) if it means he gets to play more games.

The KHL website has him currently with HC Ryazan in the VHL

Chechelev finally experiencing the first struggles of the season these last couple weeks.
Last 3 games in the VHL: 13 goals against on 80 shots for an .838 save percentage.
Last game in the MHL: 3 goals against on 25 shots for an .880 save percentage.
Overall he's now sitting with a .938 save percentage in the MHL and .910 save percentage in the VHL with a combined record of 13-2

you mean 12 games wasn't a sufficient sample size?

Fake goals.
Stop the count!
Demand a recount.
Fraudulent opponents.
The only "L"s he knows are in his name.

per Haynes, Flames are trying to influence where Chechelev plays next season
https://theathletic.com/2786545/2021...shared_article
Quote:
So far, the early returns on that prioritization have been good. Chechelev raised eyebrows last season by reeling off 10 consecutive wins to start his MHL season, which is the Russian equivalent of junior.
He then bumped up to the VHL, which would be akin to the AHL in North America, and posted two shutouts in winning his first three games there.
No longer age-eligible to play in the VHL, it is not yet determined where he will play this season. In need of a new contract, negotiations are ongoing between his agent and his Russian team, with the Flames doing their best to wield some influence along the way.
From Calgary’s perspective, a starting gig with a VHL team is preferred over a backup role in the KHL, because as Sigalet pointed out, Russian teams tend to ride their starters. The Flames want him to be playing.
The possibility exists that they loan him to another Russian team or even a team in another European country.
Regardless, Sigalet is in regular communication with Chechelev, sometimes talking with him every other day, and he said he isn’t worried, nor is the player, who remains confident and upbeat.
“He knows he’ll get a spot somewhere. He’s too good not to be playing over there somewhere,” he said.

I think Chechelev has aged out of the MHL, not the VHL.

For a while I had thought maybe the Flames would sign him and have him assigned to the ECHL. Perhaps he's a longer term project.
Good to get a sense of what's happening behind the scenes and how active the organization is in developing a player from afar.

After Parsons I don't want any goalies going to the ECHL. I know, a little dramatic.

Better for youngsters beginning their pro careers to play a lot. Starter in the ECHL is better than warming a bench in the AHL.
