New Nickelback song/vid
Now don't get me wrong, I can't stand 99% of what this band puts out. I do however think that their latest song 'If everyone cared' is pretty strong. Definately a good vid anyway:

Pretty good. That is, when you press the mute button.
Horrid song, though. Still nothing new.

I hate nickelback, BUT the
"If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
Then we'd see the day when nobody died"
part really is true. so much bad things could be avoided if everyone could let go of small things.

I liked it better the first time: John Lennon's Imagine.

I wasn't really into the beat, more into the words/meaning of it.

You mean how it's like the cheesiest cliche songwriting ever? What attrocious cop-out lyrics. And the previous poster was indeed referring to the idealism of "Imagine" and not "the beat" (whatever that means because this music sounds absolutely nothing like imagine - just more from the Nickelback formula closet).
I don't even think they themselves would believe this garbage they're writing. They just thought of all the things that rhymed with cried and stuck them together in the most obvious manner.

If everybody cared? Haha, what kind of sissy-ass lyric is that for a rock band? Im not a fan of pretentious music people who tell others what to listen to, but seriously Nickleback, go away. That was one of the cheesiest videos i've seen in a long time....talk about beating somebody over the head.
I have to give Nickleback credit though....everytime i think they have reached a new low, they bust out with this kind of stuff and suprise me. If only everybody cared about how much effort it takes to suck that hard.

God forbid someone write a song with the same message as a song written more than 30 years ago. Jesus, Nickelback can't do anything right in some people's eyes.
Nickelback could donate all their money to charity and someone would still try to find something wrong with it. People would throw out the "so and so did it first, Nickelback sucks!!"
The song is alright, the video is pretty good. I like their stuff and there is nothing wrong with this song, the only thing wrong with Nickelback is their haters.

For us Nickelback haters, it's because Nickelback sucks for very empirical reasons. Their music all sounds the same (intended), it's droning, and the lyrics are all pretentious, vapid, and elementary (as in a grade 5 student wrote them).
This song has no where near the weight or introspection of Imagine. It's simply a money-making song. There's a hilarious video of a Nickelback concert in South America where the majority audience members hated the band and paid for tickets only to throw things at them.

And your point being?
I'm not being mean or anything, don't want to come across that way. I am neither here nor there with Nickelback.
But really, if someone likes them, what does it matter? (not just at you, Hakan, but in general)? So what? I don't like a lot of dance music, but I don't go around picking on it or a particular band/artist in it.
I guess I just don't see why Nickelback needs to get hammered every single time. Its almost like they are picked on because they became famous and are from Alberta?

Dude, Nickelback is not a real band. They're androids. The songs are written by a computer that creates a composite song from current Top 40 hits.

You must hate much of the newer music out there then. I haven't really heard any new songs/bands that are really original (or good) blurting out from the radio stations lately....good thing I have my iPod.
As for Nickelback specifically, I liked their first few albums, but they have been cranking out more sappy/uninteresting crap lately.

Lighten up. It's a joke. Last time I checked Dick Clark was the only android around.
