On ice Shooting %: 12.5%
Regular Season Sam Bennett:
CF%: 54.4%
HDCF%: 56.7%
xGF%: 57.7%
On ice Shooting %: 7.51%
From an advanced metrics perspective he's pretty much the same guy, and really drives play and generates chances.
Only difference is in the playoffs Sam Bennett gets first line finish while on the ice, and regular season Sam Bennett gets 4th line finishing percentages.
Give him more skilled linemates and I bet that on-ice shooting percentage will jump up.
|
Wow I always knew he had strong possession numbers in the regular season too but I never realized they were pretty much exactly the same as they are in the playoffs. That's very promising heading into this season where he will get a real chance with good players.
I really hope he comes out flying and can gain some confidence in the early part of the year. It would do wonders for this team for Bennett to even be a 40 point third line centre.

Not true.
We ask that people don't post rumors about player's personal lives, particularly when they could involve potentially illegal activity. And we aren't concerned about pissing off the team.
You are developing a pattern of criticizing how this forum is managed. If you have concerns about how we do that - PM the mod account. But don't post misleading and inaccurate stuff like the above.

Here's a photo of him and Monahan to try and compare (both in their skates):
Johnny is roughly top of head to Monahan's nose. That gives ~5" to top of Monahan's head (unless he has a much more aggressively large noggin than I give him credit for.) Given Monahan's listed height is 6'2, that would put johnny right at 5'9. Unless they're fudging for all of them!
Here's both of them side by side without skates too. I don't think there's more than 6" separating them:

|
Maybe I have a long head but I doubt it - and it's more like 8-9 inches from my nose to the top. So if Monnie's 6'2" that makes Johnny 5'6".

Well, I have never thought of myself having a "short" head until now, but my nose to top of my head is definitely not 9".

His height is irrelevant.
He has to be one of the only guys in the league who uses a Jr. stick. He’s small. Period.

He is very slightly shorter (inch or less IMO) than my wife who is bang on 5'9".

Like I said, we would be fortunate if video games were a larger focus..
Also: Johnny is 5'9 not 5'6. Seems inconsequential but it's a substantial difference.

Gaudreau used to come to the restaurant I worked at a few years back, I am 5'6 and he's about the same height as me. The 5'9 they have Johnny listed at is generous.

Yeah I'm pretty sure Johnny is around 5'7. I also don't think he weighs much more than 155 lbs or so (he's listed at 165 lbs).
My cousin is 5'7, yet she is the same height as Jordan Eberle, who is listed at 5'11.
But once you're smaller than 5'10, it all seems the same anyways in the NHL.

Lol, so what, we are to start peddling rumors heard "around town"?
I am not sure this is the hill you want to die on for your argument.

I dug into no hill, nor do I intend to die on any argument. That said, I was just firing back at #### tier assessments/ assertions that Laine is a lazy POS who doesn't belong on the squad. Video games > some of the other things that players are often doing.

You might be right. I think I'm comparing Laine to Ovechkin when he doesn't deserve to be.
Tkachuk is probably more likely to win a championship, and that's what matters.
Hopefully they can sign him to an 8 x 8 before the deal ends.
Or hopefully he actually deserves to be paid 9+ mill.

I am guessing I am not the only one staring at a tape measure. Trying to measure from my nose to the top of my head.
Hopefully nobody saw me. LOL. Monday’s.

Speaking of small players, how about Yamamoto next to the Scotiabank U13 player?

The utility of Bennett’s game in this years playoffs was not simply because of his hitting. He was at his natural position playing with actual NHL talent and had a coach willing to give him the consistency he hadn’t had since Hartley. He drove the play, made great passes, smart plays with the puck, and I think most importantly - was on the ice with players who could not only make smart plays with the puck in their own right, but also contribute to rushes in meaningful ways - unlike Jankowski/Rinaldo/Brouwer/Chiasson/Neal.
|
I was just day dreaming today about how lucky Bennett is to finally be free of Jankowski. Bennetts game needs intensity and speed, and Jankowski is about as fast and intense as a pillow fight in a seniors home.
