Which is precisely why I expect it is not true. More than likely, the Flames were working on a deal with CBJ at the same time as Montreal, and as soon as they knew Domi was involved, probably opted out for the prohibitive cost. I could see CBJ countering a return from Calgary built around Monahan, but it is nearly impossible to believe that this is something the Flames would have had any interest in.

I don't want to believe it either.

It reminds me of when the Flames pursued Peca and the ask from Buffalo was Iginla. It got rumoured that Button offered Iginla, but I think it was revealed after that it was Button that turned it down.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Flames asked for Anderson and Columbus countered with Monahan. They did actually get Domi back, which was a huge steal, so why wouldn't push their luck if Domi was already on the table.

I always heard it was Buffalo that turned down that trade offer.

I do wonder if Treliving is trying to deal Hanifin for a young top 6 forward, and then bring in a bargain UFA LHD like Hutton or DelZotto to help shelter Valimaki while he gets accustomed to the NHL.

I don't see any real wiggle room anywhere else to be honest, and most of these Gaudreau/Monahan rumors make a guy want to vomit.

I think that Lindholm could hold the #1C spot down in the event Tre wanted to trade Mony, but the return for Mony had better be amazing. I would still love to get a young C that could take that spot in a few years, like Cozens.

Can we quit seeing this idiots name brought up as a signing. He has been terrible for at least 4 years.

I could see him playing wing for awhile, but I also see him possibly topping out as a #2C. It would sure be nice though, he has the numbers that top many #1C's around the league, so it's not impossible if he fixes the small hitch in his skating.

Yeah I don’t believe for a second that mony was ever offered. Flames don’t have the center depth to be trading a #1/1b center. If I was to guess the trade probably was involving Mangiapane +.

If on the odd chance Mony was ever involved in the trade Anderson would not have been the main piece. It probably would have been Werenski , who had been rumoured to be up for grabs If they could get a #1 center back.

I really wanted Anderson but I have no idea what Montreal was thinking giving up as much as they did and then handing him that huge contract. I can guarantee you that Tre would have never offered him that kind of contract if we had acquired him.

How can it be painful for you? Being a Canucks fan, I'm sure you would enjoy if that were true.

Glorified Travis Zajac? If anything I'd say that's closer to Backlund.

Even if that were an ounce of the truth, feel like we would have offer sheeted Barzal in spite the following year.

It does feel like the 960 guys have increased their speculation over the last few months and mentioning some of the things they have “heard”

I appreciate it but some of the stuff they mention has been pretty scary if it happened

I know you believe as much, but there are in fact other things to talk about which don't intersect with your bizarre and unfounded disdain for Sean Monahan.
