Pulcinella in Kensington has a new (not sure how new but new to me) Americano takeout option. It's an extra large pan pizza with a thick crust, somewhat similar to POW. Worth a try if you're in the area or need something quick!

Finally took the Carmine's suggestion. Hell of a pizza, absolutely loved it. I didn't ask price when I ordered, have to admit I did a slight jaw drop at the $28.50 for one medium pepperoni.

Loved it, but that'll have to be a very rare treat at that price, unfortunately.

For pizza. Not donair pizza. That’s not pizza, or how a pizzeria should be properly evaluated.

What do you mean? Its just a pizza with donair toppings? They have a couple of regular pizzas with pepperoni and stuff, but the best ones are probably: beef donair, chicken donair, meat lovers, spicy bbq chicken.

I like Fresh Slice. There I said it. 2 bucks and all you have to do is walk by people getting chased with hatchets.

Simply that I think pizzerias should be judged based on pies with their tomato sauce.

Some people even debate whether flatbread style foods with weird non tomato sauces should qualify as pizza.

If I actually have a general hankering for pizza, I get pizza with tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese. Not a taco on a bread base. Not a donair on a pizza crust.

I will say too that for all of the argument that pineapple drives, I can’t even believe people are fine with entertaining donair sauce as uncontroversial.

Basically just an oversized open-face sandwich.

Tried Gus's over the weekend. They are located across from Foothills.

Toppings weren't bad, but the crust was awful. It was a soggy mess, and upon closer inspection it appeared as though the crust wasn't formed properly leaving holes in the base. This caused the toppings to leak through and stick to the pizza sheet below.

Would not recommend.

That's too bad - Gus's has usually been very good for us, probably my favorite in the NW.

They have online ordering now. Tried it a few weeks back and it was a breeze; no more trying to call in your order (which was hit or miss at best).

Andaro’s (sp?) in Cougar Ridge is good too. Expensive but good.

Another thumbs up for Gus. Perhaps they had an off day, but I've always found it to be consistently good.

Interesting.

Andaro's is the most disappointed I've ever been in a pizza... Like not quite as bad as, say, a Hot 'n Ready, or CPU. But at least with those, you get what you're expecting. Andaro's was equivalent quality at a way higher price... Maybe it was an off night, but there's enough good 'za in this part of town that I haven't bothered to give them another shot.

Finally tried today. It was ok. Of all the new joints.

Would rank:

Noble half and half Pizza

Connie and John Mushroom Pizza

Pizza Face Pepperoni Pizza

Actually Pretty Good Pepperoni

$28.50 for a medium pizzza?

I will pay for quality but that sounds obscene. That said I never ate the pizza.

Better be awesome at that price. To feed my family supper that would cost close to $200. I can buy good pizza with leftovers for $100.

You sound more like a traditionalist.

Grew up 40 years ago next door to a 90 year old italian woman who made pizza. Best friends grandma. Many of the people in the area were related to her.

They all said the same thing. She makes the best italian pizza around.

They all hated her pizza.

North American pizza is different. Way different.

That family opened up a pizza joint in Winnipeg. Still there today. They dont make Grandmas pizzas. They would be out of business if they did.

Not picking a fight here. Yet were are talking about different pizzas.

Give me a pizza with tomato sauce and cheese I slap you silly. Yet it is a traditional pizza. In Italy! You are not wrong!

We added meat in North America! We made it better unless you are a vegan.

Even if you are a vegan we made it better for you too!

That old grandma made me a classic italian spagetti too. Olive oil and noodles. God that was awful. Cheese did help though. No tomato sauce or meat?

Different cultures.

That is fine and all.

Give me meat on a pizza, give me some weird toppings too. We ran with a good idea and made it better.

Enjoy your tomato sauce and cheese pizza. Sorry grandma has passed away.

You probably would of loved her cooking.

Again not a fight. We like what we like.

Italian food is not italian food in north america. Nor is chinese food.

A lot of this is either flat out wrong or at the least a vast misunderstanding of Italian food.

Naples and Milan can’t even agree on how to make pizza, let alone whatever you’re claiming.
