It doesn't really matter, I even said as much. The way data is collected does influence what information can be obtained from it. I was just trying to think of different ways to collect the data.

Let me ask you this. Why do you think NHL award voting uses a ranked voting system as opposed to binary one?

lol

Several possible reasons, including expeditiousness - they simply don't have time (or desire, from participants) for multiple rounds of voting.

And it's not like ranked voting isn't flawed. In fact I would argue that it is MORE flawed (see: Iginla, Jarome)

A binary vote doesn't mean multiple rounds under any circumstances. I have no idea where you got that from. It means everyone picks their winner and the plurality wins, no matter how small (just like a typical forum poll). It would be one round and done. Ranking the votes is a way of establishing a better consensus among a majority.

okay, well if your comparison was vs a single round vote, then yes, I fully agree that a ranking system is better.

however, I still don't see how it would improve this task

Alright, on a different note, are Dube and Kylington considered graduated now?

I'd say that anyone who is no longer eligible for the Calder Trophy should be considered graduated.

Kylington's ELC is expired and he is no longer waiver exempt, so I would definitely consider him graduated.

Technically, Dube is still on his ELC and could be sent down without waivers, but I'd still consider him graduated.

I’d consider them both to be graduated. They both spent pretty much the entire season in the NHL last year.

Yeah, that is how I was leaning too. But of all the players in the organization, I think they both also have the most untapped potential.

It would be a huge disappointment if either one wasn't a full-time roster player next season. Dube, especially with the playoffs he had.

His contract is up after this season, right?

I was looking at Kinnvall the other day-dude was 8th in scoring in the Swedish League last year, second among defensemen with 40pts in 51g. 5th in the league in assists. He could be a steal of a signing, to say the least.

I believe so. I don't think he has any KHL commitments either
