Really like this signing for the Pens that’s not bad value for what Ceci brings. Hopefully we can find a good vet here down the stretch of free agency.

You wonder if he turned down more to play in Pittsburgh.
RH D plays with some physical presence #1 PK d-man on the Leafs last season

That would be a good Hamonic replacement

Ceci is not an NHL quality defenceman, not sure what GMs see in him.

Still upset that Chiarelli was not able to pull the trigger in the Hall for Ceci trade instead of Hall for Larsson.

Tanev is our Harmonic replacement.

Maybe with respect to style of play.

But I am more concerned with usage. And Hamonic was relegated to 3rd pair as last season went on, whereas Tanev will be top 4 and will get the toughest defensive minutes.

In that respect, I think he is more of a Brodie replacement.

Mitch Marner plays a more physical game than Cody Ceci.

As a Pens fan knowing that our time with Sid and Geno are coming to an end I never thought I would see our GM completely #### this team the way GR has. He has made nothing but #### moves in 2017.. its mind blowing they just signed this plug.

Ceci is a horrible defenseman. Plain and simple. Spending any money on him is a waste.

Read above. If any team offered him more, that is a massive oof.

That could be but the loss of Brodie leaves a bigger hole that Tanev was supposed to attempt to replace.

I think Anderson is the replacement for Brodie. Tanev is replacement for Hamonic. Valimaki is the replacement for Anderson on 3rd pairing. I see the d as this:

Gio Anderson
Hanifin Tanev
Valimaki Kylington

Anderson was really coming into his own last season. I don’t think the first pairing will miss a beat. Tanev is a huge upgrade on Hamonic (still don’t like the term for Tanev though )

He’s actually not that bad. He was overrated in Ottawa when they were asking for a huge return for him and he was making too much money.

But he’s actually an okay third pairing guy that is a decent PKer.

For this contract he’s actually good value.

There were 94 d-men on 31 teams that played over 40 games and had over 20 minutes a game.
Ceci ranked 80th. He played on a solid playoff team.

He had 4.79 hits / 60 minutes #60 of all defensemen with over 40 games played... Hannifin had the most hits as a Flames D-man had 3.31 hits/ 60 minutes

Was Forbort a good signing for 1M x 1 ? and yet Ceci a bad signing at 250K more?
