So one division of 7 (Canadian one) and three divisions of 8?

Top 16 go to the hub, if we're still diseased?

I could see them doing a Canadian division. Then having half the season played against the division. Then the Canadian teams go South and play the other half of the season in the USA. Means less isolation in and out. By the time playoffs are here, hopefully the borders are open.

The downside would be more away games for the Canadian teams.

Canadian teams shouldn’t go south. American teams should go north. The numbers down south are far worse than up in Canada

National titles belong in the olympics or world cup, IMO it would be silly to have a Canada vs US event with NHL teams seeing as how Canadian players would make up the bulk of both

Ever heard of the Champions league? Sometimes teams from the same league play each other, even in the final... and most players are not of the nationality of the club they play for.

AFC Wimbledon's idea has nothing to do with a national Cup type of thing.

It would be fantastic fun if there was a NY Day Classic between the Canadian and US teams with highest points the previous season. It would add a little bit extra if a trophy was handed out during a mid-season event like this, especially outdoors.

I've seen nothing of note in the leafs Habs games.

Nothing like the Kassian Tkachuk shenanigans at least.

Pretty tame stuff tbh.

American divisions aren't totally obvious, but this probably makes the most sense:

SJ
LAK
ANA
VGK
ARI
COL
DAL
NAS

BOS
NYR
NYI
NJD
PHI
WAS
PIT
BUF

DET
CHI
CBJ
MIN
STL
CAR
TBL
FLA

Personally, I'd favour a 4v5 single play-in game for each division, but if they are able to sell tickets by that time I imagine they'll try to milk as many games as possible in.

If it is a 48 game season is it literally going to be 6 games against each Canadian team?

Sorry still need to read through the thread of answered already.

Biggest downside for me would be having to listen to Quinn, Remenda, Debrusk, Garrett, Hughson, and Simpson waaayyyy to often.

No one is talking a national title just a bit of extra interest for the fans, the way soccer has several different cups that teams compete for each season, you dont even have to add games to the season, just use some of them as 'extra special' that mid November tilt against the greasers might have two sets of points riding on it and so make it way more important

Canadian teams still won't win the Cup.
It's an easy way of getting rid of them. Bettman's at it again.

Hopefully SN will air US games so I can keep up with the American teams without having to pay for Center Ice.
