This is what I want to see. 2 or 3 games in a row at home against a team then later on in the year you go to them.

I think 48 games would be the right call.
There's just too much going on with the condensed timeline and covid precautions to account for.
They could even do the 24 team play in format again to expand it a little.

The only thing I don’t love about this is that the Flames would be losing 3 weaker California division teams, and a great Vegas team, and in return we would be gaining 3 stronger teams than the three Cali teams we would be losing. At least Ottawa should still be poor, but it would be division with 6 playoff bubble teams from last year.
On the other hand the Flames need to be good enough to beat any of the 6 teams to be considered a contender anyway, and it would be a heck of a lot of fun

Not true. You’ll have the infantry divisions, the airborne divisions, the armoured divisions...

No wonder we poached all the Canucks' players, we have to play them 47 times next season.

Then the Stanley Cup should rightly go to a Canadian team, as per original directive. Awarded to the finest of teams in all the Dominion!
The Americans can have.. I dunno.... the Bettman Bowl or something...

Try watching Leafs-Ottawa, Leafs - Montreal, Washington-Pittsburgh, Isles-Rangers if you want actual rivalries in the east!

With twice as many tv time outs and a review after every scoring play and penalty.

The Canadian division is a good idea, even long term. Primarily from a STH standpoint there are at least half a dozen teams in the west that are not interesting: Nashville, Minnesota, S. Louis, Anaheim, Phoenix, Dallas, and St Jose. There is no demand for these games and it’s all kind of tiresome to watch.
Every Habs, Leafs game is a big event and even Ottawa is more interesting then San Jose or Nashville.

Guess I’m the lone one .... but I think I rather have no season if they are only playing Canadian teams. I loved the bubble but I understand they can’t do that again.

If games are played in a series format we may see more physical meaningful games early.
This would lead to adjustments in penalty calls and a more physical game.
Thats very bad news for the Oilers and their only the powerplay matters strategy.
Therefore I like this!

That's like saying if a dozen donuts is all the same one that you'd rather have none.

I'll be frank I have always thought the league has missed out on national opportunities, why there isnt a cup for the best US team V the best Canadian each year escapes me, you could make it the defacto winter classic each year

I'm okay with playing Edmonton and Ottawa ten times a year.

I don't care where they play as long as we get some hockey in the new year.
A Canadian division as a once in a lifetime (hopefully) thing would be pretty dope I think.
