Not according to Treliving's playbook. Gallagher is a pending UFA. Tre doesn't usually acquire pending UFA's unless they are on the lower end of the scale and cheap to acquire.
Now, if the Habs grant him permission to speak to Gallagher's camp and work out an extension prior to any trade being completed, then it makes much more sense.

Gallagher is one of those players that is likely pissed how underpaid he has been. His next contract will age very poorly I just don’t see a fit there.

Wow this is actually really good news as it shows he isn’t completely reliant on Eichel for help.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Reinhart
Tkachuk - Backlund - Lindholm
Lucic - Bennett - Dube
Really solid Top 9 and allows the Flames to keep that dominant 3rd line from this past playoffs together.

No, the Backlund line was OUR shutdown line put up against other teams top lines, aka more difficult assignment

Mangiapane is 150 days younger than Reinhart. Let's not pretend he's significantly younger.
Mangi just established himself for half a season or so, but Reinhart has had better offensive seasons all 5 years he's been in the NHL.

That is not the point. The point is that, while Reinhart no doubt benefits points wise by playing with Eichel, that comes with having to play against the best defenders.

Wouldn’t do it 1 for 1.
I am not so enamoured on Reinhardt particularly when you have better.
No one is a top six until they are and that’s exactly my point. I guarantee if the two play roughly equal eat bread will win every stat this season between the two. The only thing Reinhardt has is a size advantage but he isn’t exactly rough and tumble so no diff.
At best this would be lateral except we would be giving up so it isn’t.

I don't know how you deal Mangi + for Reinhart and then fit Reinhart in under the cap.
Are we buying out Ryan?
Or running with Domingue as the back up? (not a good idea IMO)

5.1 in cap space today. Move Mangi, and the rumor is a goalie going to Buffalo so ritters 2.75 put the Flames at 7.85. Plenty of room. Move Ryan if needed to round out depth on the cheap.
Edit: I covet having a Reinhart level player more than a back up goalie. If Domingue can hold his own for 20 games, yeah I'd rather the Reinhart option in a team building exercise.

Mangiapane has played top 6 for the better part of a year. I'm not sure of your point. He's good. I don't know that you'll find many people across the league who say he's better than Reinhart. And your "guarantee" doesn't mean a whole lot, frankly.
Reinhart does slot in better linewise. Mangiapane is shoehorned into his off wing, and has never played C. He also has Dube nipping at his heels as a speedy guy with 2 way play (and Dube also has C ability).

And if you aren't happy with Domingue as backup, take Hutton at 50% or take Ullmark if you can sign him for $1.75 or so.

Yup, it is basically a lesser version Gaudreau for Konecny

Risto was in on more of Reinhart goals than anyone judging from the highlight video I shared. I'll give Risto some credit, he is definitely very skilled at filtering pucks to the net.

I did a quick mock up.
Mangi, Rittich for Reinhart, Hutton (50% retained).
Bought out Ryan.
Was only $8.3 million cap space left (assuming Kylington + Petrovic rounded out the D at league minimum) and needing to sign Reinhart plus add an entire 4th line plus 1-2 extra forwards.
Very, very tight unless you get some sort of bargain out of Reinhart.

If we could add Reinhart for Mangiapane, trade Ryan for a pick and sign some depth guys for cheap I don’t know how that wouldn’t be seen as a big win.
My one concern would be I would prefer to keep Rittich but I also wouldn’t mind seeing him get a legitimate chance to be a starter elsewhere cause it isn’t happening here now that Markstrom signed.

I also think a pick goes from Calgary to Buffalo in this specific trade scenario. Unsure how high it would have to be, but a 2nd is okay with me. We have 2 3rd rounders next year. We would essentially be trading down from our 2nd to edmontons or Calgary 3rd.

No doubt in my mind that Ryan could be traded. But not unless he has to be. Gawdin just came in at 750k so there's Ryan's replacement at 4 Centre.
IMO it is dooable, and I think you have overestimated what Reinhart will get in this climate. I'm thinking 5x2 or similar.

I used to think Ryan could be traded too, but then I saw the market for depth forwards this off season.

I mean there were some comparables that went for low picks. Austin Watson is the one I am thinking off the top of my head.

I still think he could be traded for, at worst, ‘future considerations.’
