On 31 thoughts podcast, Friedman mentioned that similar charges were levied on the leafs on the behalf of the Islanders for Tavares. Leafs were found to have not tampered.

If they tampered I hope they get the harshest penalties imaginable. I hate that franchise with a passion. Like things haven't been easy enough for them, they have to resort to tampering with other teams high profile UFAs? If they did it, throw the book at them, pieces of crap.

What is an example of how they could be tampering?
Friends talking privately among themselves about playing for the same team is not tampering IMO.
Curious what could actually be happening.

The owner gave up his cut of $650 mil for that one (21 million?), so while tampering is BS, that particular penalty feels a bit steep.
