Thats a pretty good trade. If they're super duper fancy stats people they should absolutely be in LOVE with mangiapane.
2 RFAs for an RFA and a soured on the team 1b signed goalie.

That's a terrible trade for Buffalo.. Ullmark and Rittich are close, but Ullmark might be better. Reinhart has never scored less than 42 points in a season and has three with 50 or more.

FWIW, my brother in law says the Reinhart contract negotiations have not been going well. Presumably that came from Sam directly...

But Mangiapane is the best 5v5 player on the whole entire team! Maybe even the league!

The whole point of trading Johnny was to recoup assets; however, it only made sense if we could sign Hall, allowing us to remain competitive.
Trading Johnny now, without having a suitable top 6 replacement for him seems like a good way to be significantly worse.

Treliving likes to trade for RFAs. Hamilton, Hanifin, Lindholm. In each case he signed pretty good deals too.

I think Sam Reinhart would be a fantastic fit with Backs and Chucky.
Besides, its about time tree started grabbing at 2014 top draft players.

It depends on how their negotiations are going. Maybe Reinhart is playing hardball because he hates playing there. Maybe his dad told him how good Calgary is. Maybe Max is grateful that Calgary gave him his only NHL games. Maybe Griffin tells him to sign and kick the Oilers’ ass.
ETA: You could also add something to even it out.

Are you allowed to say what you're brother in law's connection with Reinhart is? I get it if not.

He might be the better player.
I'd say its a coin flip. Probably a fair trade.

Yeah, I could definitely see Treliving targeting an RFA like Reinhart. It'd be similar to snagging Lindholm. Get a younger RFA that you can lock up long term.
I could also see the Flames targeting a guy like Lawrence Pilut as a throw in piece (not a main piece so take it easy lol). IIRC he was a somewhat sought after Euro FA signing. Put up excellent numbers in the AHL, but didn't seem to get utilized a ton by Kruger in the NHL. I think he's disgruntled and he went back to Europe and signed a KHL deal, but I thought I read somewhere he has an out clause if he signs an NHL contract. He's a lefty D, not sure if he can play the right side or not. Another Swede.
In that same vein, William Borgen, a 23 year old, 6'3 200lb right shooting physical Dman who is NHL ready but buried behind a mountain of RHD in Buffalo (Risto, Miller, Montour, Jokiharju).

Remember the whole Elias/ Monahan debate im that draft?
Remember which Sam we wanted in the 2014 draft debate?
The little girl .gif "why not both"
Is extremely applicable here right now.
Such a tree thing to do lol if they pull the trigger on a Reinhart trade.

He still hasn’t filled his 2013 collection.

Getting Mittlestadt wouldn't be the end of the world, as long a he's not the centerpiece of the deal. His progression was going well until Kruger came to town, but there's plenty of reasons he was an early first-round selection-he has great hands, and vision, and he's worked hard to improve his skating. Plenty of players have regressed under Kruger.

I like the idea of snagging Ullmark for Ritter too.
A couple of BIG Swedish 'tenders as a tandem.

To me, Reinhart and Buffalo does not look like a long term relationship. Sam spoke critically of the fans while they were crapping all over the team/booing them at home. Once that happens I’m just not sure how you find the way back.
The biggest question for me is what does Buffalo need to add to Reinhart to make it worthwhile for Calgary to move one of their two key forwards?
