Because one of Sergachev, Cirelli, or him are likely gone due to the cap situation in Tampa.

Depending on what Tampa might be offering this could be a much bigger contract than what they could afford. As good as it is to be in a winning environment in Tampa they just won’t be able to afford the contracts all three guys deserve.

I've always been a fan of Josh Leivo, since his Toronto days. I think he's got more to offer-he's big, can skate, and seems to put up sneaky offensive numbers. He normally plays LW, but shoots R-not sure if he can play RW, but maybe another guy on a cheap deal to look at...

I don't think any of them would help make themselves the odd man out...its not just the team its a pretty nice place to live/play taxes ect.

And if he is willing to sign an offer sheet he likely has multiple suitors. Like I said there is a very good chance its not a possibility.

Was just on Twitter but there is a source on a Sabres blog that indicated Flames and Sabres are discussing a deal that would involve a top 6 forward and a goalie going to Buffalo.

The guy indicated that he knew of the Botterill firing and that the team was hot on Hall before both things happened.

Honestly this is terrifying and kind of exciting at the same time...imagine Hall and Gaudreau both ending up in Buffalo after all the talk on here about the two of them the last two months.

If you read through the responses to this tweet from Byron, there’s a Sabres “source” on a Sabres forum that has Calgary and Buffalo talking trade including a forward and goalie going to Buffalo. The tweet chain shows the source has had other Sabres moves before they happened (incl. Botterill firing, and word of Buffalo being a team that would be pursuing Hall) - both seem like a reach, but hey...whatever.

Has nothing to do with the guy who tweeted. It’s a “source” on a Sabres forum that the guy is just referencing, much like some folks around here have had tid bits about things happening with the team, this “source” on the Sabres forum seemed to have some very loose indications of knowing some “insider” stuff from the Sabres organization.

It’s a reach and a half, but hey it could be something. It’s not like we haven’t had our pro scouts heavily scouting Buffalo in the last year or anything (we have, predating the Frolik deal).

I don’t think the actual Twitter poster that mentioned Mittelstadt is a source at all, but the poster he quoted from a different site had at least two things right previously.

So wouldn’t put any stock into the return being Mittelstadt but does seem like Flames are discussing a goalie and a forward with the Sabres.

If I were to guess on who the Flames would have interest in it would be Sam Reinhart (but if you want to see a fan base with little understanding of the Flames players, you should look at that Sabres thread on their forum. Some truly ugly proposals there).
