Don't forget the ridiculous "lens flares" on the bridge, à la 2009 movie.

I feel like a fool for enjoying the "reference humour" as much as I did, but I couldn't help laughing at the preposterously deep pull they made at the beginning:

Quote:
BOIMLER: I don’t wanna do a movie!

MARINER: That’s okay, you were kind of a Xon, to be honest. You probably weren’t gonna make the final cut.

BOIMLER: Who’s Xon?

MARINER: Exactly.

This week’s Lower Decks episode was my favourite so far. It was outrageous fun the whole way through! Loved all the callbacks to the movies. A+

The funny think that was pointed out about Xon, is that Shatner wrote about that character in his book about making the Star Trek Movies.

I'm a fan of the episode's writer, Ben Rodgers. His type of humour was all over this episode.

Godspeed, you crazy ####s.

I could never get into the Orville, but I thought they pretty much ripped off the plot of the Mass Effect games for ST: Picard.

I dont even know what to say about the Lower Decks Finale.

I had a smile plastered on my face basically the whole time. This show got off to a rocky start and had some shaky moments but closed out the season with a Grand Slam.

Keep it coming. Best Trek we've had in years.

That was the best episode of any Star Trek series since Deep Space Nine. I was laughing my ass off at Shaxs going absolute boss mode, and the fan service was the perfect amount. Can't wait for season 2 now

I have to say that in terms of Star Trek Episodes, that had to be one of my top favorites, it had everything you'd want.

Seems to be a lot of praise in here for Lower Decks. Have always loved Trek, but had no desire to continue with this show after what I thought was an unwatchable first episode. For those who are enjoying the show, did you like it from the start? If not, when would you say it got better?

If its simply not for me that's OK, but if its quality Trek I can probably convince myself to give it another shot.

didn't really like the first three episodes overall. But it found its stride by about episode 5, last nights was stunningly great. Especially the end.

Here comes another animated Trek with Kate Mulgrew reprising her role as Capt. Janeway. This time without the catty fights with Jeri Ryan

https://trekmovie.com/2020/10/08/bre...-trek-prodigy/

Quote:
Nickelodeon and CBS Studios today announced that Kate Mulgrew will reprise her Star Trek: Voyager role as Captain Kathryn Janeway in Nickelodeon’s all-new animated series Star Trek: Prodigy.

Mulgrew joined Kurtzman and Prodigy creators Kevin and Dan Hageman for a surprise virtual announcement during the NYCC Metaverse event (which you can see below). The veteran actress said, “I have invested every scintilla of my being in Captain Janeway, and I can’t wait to endow her with nuance that I never did before in Star Trek: Prodigy. How thrilling to be able to introduce to these young minds an idea that has elevated the world for decades. To be at the helm again is going to be deeply gratifying in a new way for me.”
Quote:
Developed by Emmy Award winners Kevin and Dan Hageman (Trollhunters and Ninjago) and overseen for Nickelodeon by Naito, Star Trek: Prodigy follows a group of lawless teens who discover a derelict Starfleet ship and use it to search for adventure, meaning and salvation.

Shax going Rambo was awesome! Loved the whole Exocomps went from needing respect and sentient rights in TNG to LD turning them into teenage girls with daddy issues lol.

Moreover, I loved that the exocomp stayed true to character and refused to (potentially) sacrifice itself for the good of the ship.

Caught a bit of the ST marathon on the Sci-fi channel over the weekend, and I ended up watching both TMP and Nemesis for the first time in years. TMP is still too long and quite boring in parts, but I still enjoy the chemistry between the characters/actors and the overall story is actually pretty cool. If they had shortened it to TV length, it would have made for a great episode of the series.

Nemesis is just an awful movie in almost every aspect. Solid performance by Tom Hardy though. I always forget that was one of his first major film roles. Other than Patrick Stewart who always seems to bring his best no matter what the circumstances, the rest of the main cast look like they're sleepwalking their way through the film.

Nemesis almost killed Hardy's career before it started. It was such a dreadful movie.

The worst part was yeah Stewart was exceptionally good in a bad movie, with worse writing. but every other cast member looked like they read the script, said, its a pay check and zombied through it.

Trek fans point to this movie killing the TNG movies, but forget that it followed an equally bad Insurrection.
