Great deal.
Kinda pissed this isn't with us to be honest. If you consider taxes we probably could have got him on a 4x4 deal.

We'll do it with every guy that meets one of our needs up front and goes elsewhere for a reasonable price.
Brad continues to neglect the top 6 forward group after a playoffs where they couldn't score goals when it was needed most.
Grats on the goalie, its a step, but more work needs to be done.

The Canucks have taken a downgrade in goal, and have watched Tanev, Stecher and Toffoli walk.
Dim Jim is knocking it out of the park!

Blaster was already bragging about the rumored 5M deal Vancouver supposedly had with him a couple weeks back so it will be a tough spin

Yup, agreed.
the other thing too, is that when a winger inevitably slows down, they are useless, dead cap space. But a defenseman - especially a defensive defensemen - will continue to be useful as he slides down the lineup.

That is a reasonable term and salary.
I'm pretty Meh on the flames offseason thus far. They've thrown a lot of dough and term to 30 year olds. All while not touching the biggest flaw this roster has come big boy hockey season : 5on5 offense generating top6 forwards.
They have time, and the move likely needs to come via trade. Prove me wrong bt.

Does anyone have any idea what the Canucks are doing?
Before they were letting RFA's go unqualified because they were planning on bringing back Tanev, Toffoli, Markstrom, going to trade for OEL.
Loui Eriksson was as good as gone, Sutter too.
They've done absolutely nothing except sign Holtby.
They've lost Markstrom, Tanev, Stecher, Toffoli, their D looks to be in shambles and once they've signed Gaudette and Virtanen they'll be right near the cap.
Weird.

Pretty envious of the Habs right group of right wingers.
Gallagher
Anderson (not the contract, just the player)
Toffoli
Armia
Maybe we could get Armia from them?

don't care what the canucks are doing. I'm more baffeld about the flames not fixing the top line. While i can't say i wanted Toffoli , i surely rather have him at this price point than Tanev. I really like Tanev, but that's a guy you don't give out a 4 year deal .

Vancouver taking it on the chin a bit in free agency so far. I wouldn't have predicted that.
Still a good team and Holtby could work out well but so far they look weaker.

Especially when the guy doesn't skate well to begin with

When considering shelf life and where they are on their curve of productivity, 30 year old defensemen are about equal (maybe even preferred) to 28 year old forwards.
Same is true for goalies.
Forward - especially wingers - is a young man's game.

Poor execution/falling in love with your own players - it's just not that shocking and not all the isolated to Dim Jim and the Canuckleheads.

Third, possibly second line player, at $4MM, not bad, but I don't like the term. He's just not what this team needs. I'm glad BT passed on him. Now, if Hoffman is cheaper than that, you're getting more skill and a guy who can play on the top two lines. I'm in favor of that.

Maybe he really wanted to play in Montreal
not to defend Vancouver but they could have offered him that or more already and he just wanted to go there. Rumors are they did offer him more

Treliving is just obsessed with Defence, we really needed another top 6 forward.

Maybe it's his foot speed but I've never been enamored by him. Decent player but not what I'd envision for our right wing.

I think I’d rather Hoffman. I still see the flames shipping out Ryan and potentially Rittich to sign another forward.
