Maybe he has a bad year or is injured....guy is 29, injury prone, and coming off a so so year. I would have gone for term but it's his career.
Also there is a better chance things are worse next summer IMO...what revenue is the league gonna have?

Nothing says "we have a long term plan" to Eichel like signing a player who is clearly using your star to do a one-and-done detour in Buffalo.

Hoffman and Toffoli are about on the same tier. I dont really have a preference either way.
But I do know we need another weapon up front.

Lost some respect for Hall seeing there.
Straight after money only and not looking to win at all. Not the type of player you'd want at the core of your team.
I hope we don't get into the Hall sweepstakes next off season.

Because it gives him total control on where he goes if Buffalo wants to trade him. There is a good chance that they try to trade him at the deadline.

The Flames will be in a worse position next off-season to sign a big ticket as they currently have less than 18M in cap space and only 11 players signed.

I was hoping we could sign Hall and flip Johnny but I really think Covid mucked up free agency and don't know how they could trade Johnny for picks to any team without taking salary back.
I'm just happy we looked after goaltending and am also happy with Tanev replacing Brodie.
Definitely feel better coming into this season versus last season. If we don't see a hockey trade we just have to hope Johnny and Monahan get it together and that guys like Mangiapane and Dube push up the lineup.

I dont blame ya i certainly was hoping Taylor came here as well.
I honestly think this is the best scenario tho if we didnt get him.
To a middling eastern team, on a one year deal, and certainly still leaves the door open for us to unite next offseason.
I, like others, see this as a means to an end.

Or maybe he has somewhere he really wants to play that is somewhere that could win, but they just can’t free the cap space right now despite trying. So he sings a good money one year deal now with full control and controls a trade at the deadline to that team or tries again next year?
That may not be true at all, but we shouldn’t jump to conclusions on what this means, especially given he didn’t take term with Buf.
