The only way I could stomach Perry being on the team, is if we only ever used him as a target for pre-game one-timer warmups.

Even without Taylor Hall (or anyone else) this has got to be the best Flames roster we've seen in a very long time.
Tkachuk - Backlund - Mangiapane
Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Lucic - Bennett - Dubé
Rinaldo - Ryan - Robinson
Hanifin - Andersson
Giordano - Tanev
Välimäki - Kylington
Markström
Rittich

Haha, I was thinking of saying Perry but didn't want everyone to yell at me. Always hated playing against him. Borderline dirty player and genuine a-hole. Seems like he would be great to have on the Flames.

Marleau and Thornton will be lucky to get a contract I’m thinking

Plus we wouldn't have to lose to him in the first round yet again

I understand that. However, Crown didn't just start a conversation on that topic out of nowhere. It came from discussion about a player that met the expectations for context of this thread and Crown was basically told to not comment if it is about race--even though it is relevant.
It's not like Crown just made some political statement out of nowhere.

Does it move the needle at all come playoff time? I highly doubt it.

I agree. Having Markstrom as a quality starter when we haven't had one in so long makes a huge difference.
I think my main concern is that the top 6 has not really produced well when the mattered, which is why people want a shake up of that group. I definitely think we are better today with Markstrom in net, but are we serious PLAYOFF contenders with this group? I don't really know.

Looking at that line up, I'm not comfortable with the group up front at all. Definitely missing a couple additions/upgrades.

Now that Hall is gone who I wasn't sure was going to be worth the cap he signed for anyways. I hope Tre targets Toffoli. Still have to make some moves for it to happen though.

I’m still for trading Gaudreau if Tre can find the right return.

Markström will put an end to the deflating goals against that have been killing us at key moments, there's some fancy stat about that somewhere that someone recently posted on CP. (It basically says his strengths are our weaknesses)

If anything, its about the same as last year, in my opinion. I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but I just don't see an overall improvement yet. Specific positions, certainly. But not overall.
For example, is Markstrom better than Rittich? Of course! But there weren't many games during the regular season last year where there were losses directly attributable to goaltending in my opinion. But, were there numerous nights where the top line, specifically Monahan and Gaudreau, were outplayed? In my opinion, there were many. Its for that reason, that I simply don't believe Treliving has addressed the specific needs of this team (at least yet).

That isn't a guarantee. Marky will let in some bad ones, and we need top players to bail him out sometimes. I can't see big changes happening to that top 6, so expectations will be low for myself at least.

You can expect Markstrom to steal a game or even a series come playoffs but to steal 4 rounds if the top 6 perform like in the previous couple of playoffs as asking way to much.
If that is our top 6 this coming season they have to perform better, period!

Having Markström as Calgary's starter is sorta gonna be like having Kiprusoff in net again but with a way stronger team in front of him this time.

Does Calgary go after any winger? I hope it isn’t Hoffman or Dadonov (unless a 1 or 2 year contract) Anything long term, and we live to regret that.
Toffoli, I can live with.
