Based on Treliving’s stealthy moves done in previous years, this notion is entirely possible...not to mention Hall’s opportunity to finally play for his favorite team as a kid. Could be a Tavares situation for sure. There’s no doubt the Flames cap issue is indeed the problem.

yeah but they can deal with that problem after
Schmidt would be enough to get Pietrangelo, then dump Fleury

If they can move him without taking a contract back they'd have just under 8 in cap space. no idea if they need to re-sign anyone else though
So depends if Pietrangalo takes less than 8 to play in Vegas.
They can always move Schmidt, sign Pietro, then use some of the assets gained from Schmidt as a sweetener to flip Fluery to the Sabres or something. Allows them to retain a bit on MAF too.
Sounds like a lot but if anyone can do it, it's Vegas.

A lot of people on here are talking about things as though they are fact when we have no clue at all
Will Hall come here? at what cost?
Making a bad Gaudreau trade just for cap space is stupid.

Yeah I understand people want a shakeup, but a poorly planned shakeup can go wrong easily, and is how you end up with Vancouver's current D corps for example

doesn't hurt when every player is begging to play there for less money...easiest GM job in the NHL

However, the reality of trading Gaudreau for almost no money coming back this offseason might be the real issue.

Let Boston sign Hall.
Trade Gaudreau to Boston for Hall, one for one.
Problem solved.

Sorry Lucic but you are either going to the Sens or the AHL
your choice
(is what I would say from behind a secure door with bullet proof glass)

Is it possible that Treliving has a Gaudreau trade pending on the Flames signing Hall? I assumed the Flames would make a strong push given their attempt at trading for him last season. Strange there's no rumours of the Flames being in the mix.

You would only make the Gaudreau trade if the Hall contract is sitting on your desk ready to sign.

Personally, I think it’s kinda hilarious the way an expansion team managed to become an immediate powerhouse and one of the best-run organizations in the league.
What took the Predators damn near 20 years to do has taken Vegas three.

I think if... and its a big if.... we sign Hall, I think the Blue Jackets make the perfect trade partner to send Gaudreau.. they have the cap space and some interesting young guys that could come back.

I think if all this goes down...Fleury + picks + assets will go to Detroit. Yzerman is going to take complete advantage of teams like Vegas and Tampa to completely school the Oil and really everyone else on how you do a rebuild.
If Detroit was a stock...I would he investing big time.

But as AC points out, the problem could be trading Gaudreau for no/minimal money coming back.

How many draft picks are you sending the Sens to take Lucic?
And sending Lucic to the AHL doesn't save all that much cap anyway. Plus, IIRC, his NMC prevents him from being sent to the minors.
And of course, with a NMC, it's his choice to stay where he wants. And if the Flames get aggressive with him about waiving it right now, don't be surprised if he chooses not to waive his NMC for expansion.
I'd be kissing Lucic's a$$ and calling it ice cream right now.

Hypothetically, who would be the equivalent to a prospect like Morgan Frost on New Jersey or Columbus?
For NJ i see Swede Center Jesper Boqvist.
I'm not familiar with Columbus' prospects at all.
