Also closes the condition where if the Flames were to re-sign Forbort the 2021 4th they gave to LA would become a 2022 3rd.

Solid contract at that price, Jets are doing some impressive work this off-season.

Great signing for them. Good price for what he is.

Jets are hurting for defence. A great opportunity for him.

It’s funny how, when we discuss missed draft picks, we always forget other teams’ having the same issue. Derek F was 15th overall, one in front of Tarasenko. And he’s not even the worst example of that from the 2010 draft.

God I thought Forbort was awful, just absolutely awful with the puck, and I thought the fact that he got any time at all was indicative of a total lack of (uninjured) depth at defense for the Flames.

I watched Forbort play closely in a few games and I really liked him. Solid, big stay-at-home defenseman. Plays with heart and no fear. Kinda like Engelland; every team needs this kind of D-men as their 3rd D-pairing. These guys are certainly not a dime/dozen and don't come available too often and Calgary doesn't have a good replacement for Forbort. Understand the pick upgrade reason, but sorry to see him leave anyway.

The guy signed for one season, very close to league minimum. Doesn’t that give us an indication of how good he is?

Jets get a serviceable bottom pairing dman. Surprised that they don’t have any interest in Hamonic TBH.

Some guys just want to make sure they have a contract for next season....there are still dozens and dozens without.

If Hamonic wouldn't play in the playoffs because of covid, I don't think he signs for next season for the same reason. Honestly, I think his career is over.

Can't argue with this deal. Short term and affordable dollars. This is how teams should be using free agency.
