I mentioned this in the other thread too. Completely agree with this. I think they should try and flip Rittich and get a cheaper backup goalie for 1-1.5 MM.

Just not sure who would be interested.. Oilers, maybe?

This might not be the year to skimp on a backup. The schedule will be tight.

Oilers out on Hall if they were ever really in it:

Ryan Rishaug @TSNRyanRishaug
Though talked about a lot locally, It was always a long shot, so no major surprise here, but a return to Edmonton unlikely for Taylor Hall.. doesn't sound like any discussions are being had at this point. Money never really made sense.

Folks, keep in mind the upcoming season will probably see quite a few more back top backs in a condensed season, a backup capable of playing 35+ will be vital for contending teams.

Right, but I think a guy like Greiss may be had for cheap.. and I am okay with bringing him on to save some cap space.

I would be very surprised if Bennett is going anywhere this season. I think his playoff performance has given him some new life here.
If they give him more opportunity to play center with some better players (Dube, Mangiapane etc...) and he turns in another pedestrian regular season, I could see him out the door next summer.

Trade for Korpisalo. Call it a day!!

Seriously, I kind of really don't want Ritter around now knowing he will never get the #1 shake he thinks (rightfully or wrongfully) he deserves.

You mean he wasn't interested in chump change to play with McDavid (again)?!

Think they need a capable backup, but when the chips are down in playoffs, teams ride one guy. Backup goalie is nowhere near as critical as they top 6 forward or top 4 dman they could put that money towards. If they can snag a solid backup for 1.5 and recoup a pick I think it makes a lot of sense, especially as he'll likely be gone in a year for nothing. Saves money, good asset mgmt.

All presumes somebody else who is not the Oilers wants him.

I think Ryan is done as a flame. Tough to see 3 million going to the 4th line center

Sam is probably still on his way out of town just like Mark Jankowski, Bennett wants and needs a change of scenery too.

This is not what it sounds like. Not when you hear Conroy talk about him earlier this off-season. He's a centre on this team going forward.

Have there been any legitimate rumours around Hall today?

The Flames have some $10,910,834 to sign 8 players including their two RFAs in Kyllington and Mangiapane.

Me thinks youre wrong. His change of scenery was getting a coach to listen to management and play him at center. Guess what, it worked and the coach that did that is staying.

If you haven't listened to any Flames management speak about Bennett, you'd know he is one of the last people they'd trade .
