Here are Talbot and Rittich in the same samples for comparison. No question the Flames are getting an upgrade in goal here, the question is how much of an upgrade and at what cost?
Is Markstrom what we saw in the past 18 months? If so, big time potential here...but if not, the Flames could be paying millions in incremental dollars per season for what amounts to a marginal upgrade.
Huge gamble by Treliving (pending dollar and term). Especially term with goaltender age curves.

2019-20: 6th (Hellebuyck, Rask, Grubauer)
2018-19: 24th (Gibson, Binnington, Bishop)
2017-18: 19th (Grubauer, Raanta, Bobrovsky)
2018-2020: 17th (Khudobin, Lehner, Binnington)
2017-2020: 17th (Grubauer, Gibson, Khudobin)
Obviously you hope last season is what you are signing up for, but worst case you're getting an over-paid but average starter. Pretty good floor and hope you get the giant ceiling in a couple seasons.
(As an aside, still annoyed the Flames missed out on Khudobin and Grubauer previously, both of whom I had recommended as good-bet signings/trades)
