I'm guessing 5.75 million for 6 years.

I like Markstrom. Hopefully this isn't another Treliving UFA mistake. There has not been a great track record on that front

This is exciting. I don't care about the later stages of the contract. Give us 4-5 years of solid number one goaltending and I'm all about it.

For those who will say this is a mistake I would again ask exactly how you think the Flames should address their goaltending? There has been constant (and valid) complaining over cycling through lower tier options and not getting a guy.
I would say Markstrom is the best available free agent goalie. Yes there is risk.
But if you believe that the Flames need to address the net- how else do you think this happens?
What's the bigger mistake. Signing Markstrom and taking on some back end risk, or again entering the season and hoping your tending works out?

Markstrom has also been good for a while, great the last couple years. Each goalie has a different "prime window", Markstrom's in his now.

Hope we snag him. If we don't gets a lot trickier as we're looking at a trade instead most likely.

Steinberg says last he checked the deal is on the goal line and Treliving just needs to punch it through

I'll say the $ is higher, probably 6.

6 x 6 for an elite starter is just fine.

Sorry, have you enjoyed the mystery box goaltending experience we’ve been on since 2013?

Kipper was this age when he signed his extension, and was never the reason we didn’t accomplish our goals.

So long as you have a goalie, you have a chance.

If you don’t have a goalie, you can have Sid and Geno in their primes and it won’t matter.

See: Sid and Geno’s primes when Fleury was letting in 4 a game against the Flyers.

We needed a goalie. We seem to have purchased a fine one.

Drink up and be merry.

There is a good chance by year 5 or 6 we will be looking at rebuilding anyways.

Some would rather pay a guy who was bad last year 4M then get a legit top 5 from last season

I don’t mind signing a 30 year old goalie, but can we get one that won’t be 35 in five years?

He's almost 31.

31 to 38 is way too old. No ifs, ands, or buts.
