I actually enjoy it. And Blaster doesn't (always) disappear when the Canucks suck

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
There was a guy (Kevin Woodly, In Goal Mag?) on 960 this morning who suggested that some team had offered Markstrom's camp max term at 6 plus and a big signing bonus "just to see if they could get in on the conversation" and were told they had that already. If that is the case, the Oilers would have to up the ante.

Front end the deal so he is moveable in the final three years if needed.

Offering what, the actual figures aren't given? Other than it was in total $10M more.
It could be Vancouver offered him 1 year at $6M and Calgary offered $16M over 3 years.

Oilers are baiting the Flames to go high on Markstrom and take the Flames out of the running for Hall and maybe Tofolli?

Flames know a lot more than us who actually might sign

I'd just put on my Ted Lasso hat and tell the guy the truth... "If you want us to match Edmonton's offer, we will... but if you want the best chance of winning, you'll leave us enough room to get Hall and a defenceman too."

I dont think the Oilers offer is a factor what so ever. E=NG.

Youd have to imagine that signing Hall makes Gaudreau gone. Having Hall, Gaudreau and Tkachuk on LW gives us an abundance there and I dont see us trading Tkachuk. Signing Hall likely has minimal effect on our cap room if we move Gaudreau after.

Burke just said he really doubts the Flames would go 7 years with Markstrom

I think at 7 years and $5.5MM, you have to let Markstrom go elsewhere.

If he’s getting more term than Lehner, he ain’t getting more money. I would also be against this. Let the Oilers do it and run Holtby/Rittich.

I don’t think there’s much of that 3 dimensional chess that goes on, and I don;’t think Treliving plays that game much. He has prices for his UFA guys and for trades and he pretty much sticks with them (not that his price is correct every time, but he doesn’t seem to bow to bidding wars).

Hall Lindholm Mangiapane

Just because the Oilers offered 7 yrs at 5.5M per doesn’t mean he signs there. It is still Edmonton for Christ’s sakes.

Same for me, the team has clearly never wanted for give out the really long term deals, so I can see why Burke would think they won't offer 7 years.
