It wouldn't be Flames UFA day without a 3x3 to someone like Wayne Simmonds.

Friedman mentions Calgary as one of the teams in on Hall (alongside Nashville, Columbus, Montreal and some others...I think Boston). Speculates himself that he doesn’t think Hall will take a short term deal.
I want no part of Wayne Simmonds.
I ONLY want Markstrom, Hall, Pietrangelo, Brodie. That’s my shopping list today.
Show me 3 of those 4.

And Simmonds has kiboshed it every time. He doesn’t want to play here for whatever reason, I wouldn’t be worrried. Especially if eastern teams want him.

Feels like some out there have slept on the Geoff Ward factor and just talk about Hynes. Hall has lived a huge chunk of his life in Alberta and loves the spotlight so I am grasping at those straws to still consider Calgary a serious contender to get him

If he isn't going the short term contender route then we have a shot here.
But for whatever reason I see a team like MTL taking it since they seem to be happy overspending this offseason.

I’m not shocked. If you have that many teams interested in you, one of them will cave for the 7 year deal if one hasn’t already offered it.

Purely based on after tax income, Montreal would really have to offer a lot more than Nashville.
53% in Montreal, 39% in Nashville. That's almost overwhelming. These are the most and least taxed teams in the league.
Calgary 47.7% for reference. Still relatively high.

Go big value or go home.
Half-measure wayne simmonds moves have no place today.

I just don’t see how Montreal is a better situation to win than Calgary, specifically if we land Markstrom. We are the much better constructed team.
I think Hall may cost us closer to $9M than $8M given the teams interested...I’m fine with it. Show me Markstrom and Hall, that’s the kick this team needs to progress. It gives us opportunities to make other trades.

Subtract Ryan 3.1 and you are pretty much there...

Likely low on Brodie, Markstrom and Toffoli. Maybe a million on each one.
But these are strange times.

What are you predicting 3 out of 4 of them get paid?

Is Calgary really home for Hall? I know he was born here but how old was he before he moved to Ontario?

Simmonds pushing Dubé out of the top 9 would be so Calgary.

someone posted in another thread a few weeks back about some legal tax moves players on Canadian teams can make that significantly lessens the apparent tax burden.
Sorry I can't find the link. So take those numbers with a grain of salt.
