If Ferland can play, and can play at an NHL level then that's fantastic. I want Ferland on the roster and will happily have him on the team. He cannot and should not play.

Nope, still currently sitting at around 15. 15 million to, in theory, sign what is 4 players. Two bottom six wingers, possibly a d-man and a back-up goalie if we don't re-sign Markstrom. See until contracts are signed, the number stays the same. Once the contract is signed then you can subtract, but not before. Hell, I'll even give you the Ferland contract that will come off the books Jan 1st, so 12 millions to sign these things.

God damn, you are so desperate for anything that you're just ignoring math to try and generate schadenfreude to make yourself feel better before a full season of David Rittich as your starter kicks in.

Edit - Sven Baertchi is still signed and I haven't even been counting him on the roster but have been counting his cap number, so don't worry we'll have back ups.

Either Markstrom's numbers are worse than they would be else where because of bad defensive team or Markstrom is a worse choice than what you currently have. Pick one.
