In case anyone likes Dom Lucszyszyn's stuff he wrote an article today going over the top 9 players that weren't offered QO's by their team. I won't get into detail, but the list is:

Duclair
Kahun
Cousins
Boyd
Anthanasiou
Hinsostroza
Koekkoek
Benning
Stetcher

IMO Benning would actually be a solid addition to play sheltered 3rd pairing minutes on the right side. RHS, solid 5 on 5 results, and one of only 2 Oiler defensemen with a positive goal share last season. He also lead the team the previous season.

Dom mentioned he could flourish in the right situation similar to how Demelo did this past season. A real good buy low candidate for depth on the right side.

Seeing all these names the day after the 2020 draft is a good reminder that not all hyped prospects turn out.

Yeah, look at the 2013 draft: first rounders like Klimchuk, Shinkaruk, Lazar, Poirier, Rychel - HEY WAITAMINUTE!!

I can see the Flames going after Dominik Kahun. He's a left shot but he I believe he plays his off wing the most, and he can also play all three forward positions in a pinch. He's also pretty young still at just 25.

Scored at a pretty solid clip too, despite limited ice time.

Sounds like an ideal 10th forward

Flames biggest needs are defence (someone who can reclaim possession like Gio used to) and some freaking speed. Hate to say but dont see how we get faster without moving out one of Mony, tkachuk or lucic. So I guess re-sign Brodie and Ryder. Pray for Phillip's gawdin and valimakaki to contribute. Not what I want. Just what will happen. Why would a free agent sign here after the way this team has played? Underachieving, best players gone in 3 years probably. No name coach, big questions in net. Pretty attentive and critical fan base.

Fingers crossed that Treliving doesn't overpay for anyone. If anything we should acquire a bad contract if he wants to spend the cap and at least get a pick. It's known that we'll sign a goalie, I dont want markstrom or anyone with term.

I think he, Mangiapane and Dube would be able to battle for a spot in the top 6. He had a better point per game average than either Mang or Dube this last season.

OP updated with strikethroughs and the Wennberg and Schneider buyouts.

That multi-colour list is seizure inducing.

You're right, and now that I have multiple separate categories for each position, I think it's hardly necessary anymore.

Colours are about to be removed.

Updated with the following:

RFA

Boston:
Brett Ritchie // Right-handed right wing // Age 27 // 27 GP, 2-4-6, 10:24

Chicago:
Drake Caggiula // Left-handed left wing // Age 26 // 40 GP, 9-6-15, 11:48
Malcolm Subban // Goaltender // Age 26 // 9-7-0, .890
Slater Koekkoek // Left-handed defenseman // Age 26 // 42 GP, 1-9-10, 16:45

Detroit:
Adam Erne // Left-handed left wing // Age 25 // 56 GP, 2-3-5, 11:48

I thought Richie was going to be decent.

I guess playing with Getz can prop up the numbers..

I think you are mixing up the Ritchies. Brett Ritchie was with Dallas previously. You are thinking of Nick Ritchie, who is also with Boston, and used to play with Ducks.

Fair. It would be good to have at least one slightly older swiss-army-knife who can transition between 4C and top 9 wing (as opposed to shuffling Bennett/Dubé/Mangi)

I really liked Erne in his draft year, really quick and physical. Looked like he was earning a bottom-6 role in Tampa a few years ago...

Jeeze with Crawford and Khudobin going to free agency I don’t see Vegas getting out from Fluery at all. I love it.

I just noticed Nick Cousins is a UFA. He was good in the playoffs.
