NJ to buyout Cory Schneider
Brian Lawton
@brianlawton9
The @NJDevils expected to buy out Cory Schneider. Add another goaltender to the already crowded goalie market. We will discuss on @NHLNetwork tonight at 6pm why so many buy-outs with the target date of January 1st @NHL start date.
Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Indeed, source confirms the Devils are buying out Cory Schneider. Which also means the Devils now in the goalie market.

They are in the back up goalie market.

With so many other guys out there, I think this might be the end of the line for him. I wouldn't even take a 1M flyer to sign him on a prove it deal right now. He's 34, and his NHL numbers have been atrocious the last couple of seasons.
Unless Edmonton has interest, in which case, 4 years, 4.345 million per!

Schneider is done as an NHLer, so I wouldn't consider him an addition to the crowded goalie market. Unless, someone is in the market for a vet goalie for the AHL

After returning in the new year, completely healthy for the first time in forever he played pretty well. 3-2-1, 2.45gaa and .922sv%. Small sample size, but maybe it gets him a league minimum backup contract from a cap tight team

I could see someone rolling the dice on a 1 mil 1 year deal, but certainly not going to get a look at anyone that wants a starter or 1b

He probably gets a PTO, but going to be tough for him to find a landing spot.
A lot of goalies are becoming UFAs this off-season.

New Jersey is a tire fire. Still. I've always liked Schneider, was tops on a brutal team for years. Wouldn't be surprised if he's got some magic left....but doubt there's much mutual interest between Schneider and Calgary.....still New Jersey is almost as bad as edmonton....could be a talbot
