We're not talking about superstars here, we're talking about dime-a-dozen guys and its not like the Oilers can do anything with Draft Picks that are lower than #1. Even then...

The Chiasson signing isnt...well its not terrible. Its not brilliant but he is a serviceable player who is slightly overpaid.

The Kassian signing?? This is why you're not supposed to offer contracts when you're clearly drunk. That contract is straight-up insane.

Ken Holland has been all kinda of awful for the Oilers so far.
 Has traded 2 2nds, 3rd, 5th
Athanasiou 9 games, green even less. Neal+750k cap space

 Kassian 4 years $3.2M per

No cap space, no picks, worse assets.

Holland much like Sather when he went to the Rangers is living off some good work many years ago, he has been awful with the red wings for a long time. no surprise he isn't the answer.

			So with Jesse's signing...
PROJECTED CAP SPACE : $8,766,182
ROSTER SIZE: 15/23

and they need a goalie. That should be interesting.

Anything on how the Oilers fans feel about the draft?
I'd go look but it makes me ill to go there.

It doesn't look like the cap overage from last year in that 8.7M, So the number is probably closer to 8M. They still need to sign Bear and a goalie. That doesn't do a whole lot to improve a non playoff team.

What were the Oilers thinking drafting from the NCAA? Definitely a flight risk.
They should only draft WHLers from the Oil Kings and the Raiders because at least those prospects have started to build up an immunity to the water.

I am so curious to see what they think of Holloway's reaction.

Seriously, one of these days, a player is going to pull a Lindros on the Oilers. I am so surprised that it hasn't happened yet.

The Raiders are no fan of the Oilers after the extortion they used to force them to trade Draisatl to Kelowna in 2015 or they would not return him to the WHL.

If was Mactavish that did that, but anyone with a brain knows he was a tentacle of the problem. Not the root.

Apparently it was a tape delay. They say the family does get excited when they get the news but i havent seen any video of it. Just see his dad mouthing something and his mom consoles him by holding his hand.

It's now showing 16/23 and $7,591,182. But I think it's including the 3 forwards classed as 'COVID loan' in salary, but not roster count...so assuming 1M or less for the final forward spots as current, they have that 7.5 to do Bear, 1 more D (Bouchard?) and a goalie for a 22 man roster.
Which is doable, but they certainly aren't improving. What a hilariously terrible roster to be pretty tight to the cap.

Funny how they were the only ones on tape delay.

A starting goalie at that, not just a backup, unless you think Koskinen is a legitimate starter.

And that still leaves them LESS deep than last season.
