Also speculated landing OEL would help them keep Markstrom

Huh? The Clark turning around Markstrom's career thing has been the party line since he came to life in December 2018. You're so desperate for someone other than yourself to be in desperation.

Could help them sign as there are a ton of Swedes there. Cap is still an issue and you pretty much have to pencil in close to 4M in bonuses. They already have 1.7M overage from last year, so they are starting in a hole.

It's always depended A) on how much bad contract they can ship out on an OEL deal and B) how much cap they can get Az to eat.

I have to say that I am happy with the draft but I'm really surprised that we have not seen anything big by the Flames?

Should we expect more to come?

If we strike out on Hall and Markstrom is this off-season a failure?

I think that the Flames are interested in a hockey trade, so the imaginary deadline is more Friday than today.

Not if we end up with Holtby and Hoffman

Panthers don’t qualify Wallmark which is nuts given he was a big part of the Trochek return. He’s not offensive at all but he’s a real good defensive forward.

I’d take a flyer on him for sure

That is beyond surprising. Maybe they can move Acciari back over to centre, but Wallmark was just scratching the surface of what he can do. Now, their natural centre depth is Barkov and then the rookie Borgstrom.

Are Florida and Minnesota playing a game that we are not aware of?

Really quite surprised that Flames haven’t made a deal other than moving back in the draft. Yes the off season just started but draft picks are often involved in so called hockey trades to help balance out the deal.

The Flames are taking some big UFA swings...and depending how those go will evaluate trades.

Why would the Flames trade for a goalie or skater before seeing what they can acquire in free agency?

I believe every team has 2021 draft picks that they can trade too. Not 100% sure about that though...

Exactly.

Just look at the ever-expanding list of players not being qualified or going to free agency. This is going to be the craziest offseason ever. And there are going to be all kinds of interesting opportunities.

A little patience to see how it unfolds doesn't seem unreasonable to me.
