If you play video games, Plasma will die. LCD is my favorite, and you can get a wicked Samsung or Toshiba at Best Buy easily for under 2K. You're probably looking at a 42inch or so. Make sure you leave room in your budget for an HD box and the correct cables to set it all up. The worst thing you can do is completely disregard what the Sales Rep says, and buy only the TV, because guaranteed, you will return it because the picture looks brutal without the correct componants.

Will never buy another Sharp.

I agree, you need a HD box but don't buy overpriced cables at Best Buy, etc., go to a computer shop or cabling store.

This is the TV I'd be looking at but do your own research.

Somebody posted in another thread that you could find componet cables at Princess Auto for a lot less than the electronic stores sell them. Havn't been to check it out for myself yet.

The thing that ****ed me off was they knew the TV had a defect they couldn't fix yet decided to give it back to me anyway. Gal at the repair shop clued me in as to the defect and encouraged me to fight for a refund as other customers of hers were going to do the same thing. Sharp was dishonest in their dealing with me and other customers

What made you buy a Sharp in the first place? You want quality, buy the brand that makes the product in question for the longest, they generally know what their doing, lead the way with technology and have the fewest recalls, because they fix problems before releasing new verisions. Although Sony does lots of things wrong, they leapyeared the tv market by coming out with "Trinitron" technology way back when. So i wouldn't buy all electronics sony, but when it came to TV's , you bet I buy Sony

Enough said, one area sony knows, and knows well is TV's. But at the end of the day you get what you pay for

you can also try B and E electronics just off the blackfoot trail. Electronic parts wholesaler. Knowledgeable staff, great prices, no advertising. Call ahead to make sure they have component though

The TH42PX60 is a great TV...

After countless hours of research, it seems the best bang for the buck, and the one I'm gonna buy in the near future...

For years Sony used Sharp's second best LCD panels because Sharp was the industry leader. Not sure what the story is in the last 2 years, but Sharp is well known for making great LCD's.

The Sharp Aquas is rated the best LCD by many cirlces with Sony following close behind. Sony is now manufactured by Samsung. As for people not likeing the Sharp LCD, there are 2 types of Sharp LCD, the base LCD's which are cheaper and manufacured by a sub contract (QDI, which also manufactuers some Phillips sets) and the Aquas line which is manufactured by Sharp themselves. Digital Home Canada had a good write up on LCD manufactures a month or so ago......Link... It's interesting to see who actually makes the TV your watching.

Sony's the best??? Have to disagree on that.

Persoanly I think Sony is over priced for what you get. As a consumer you are paying extra for the name. Myself, I always bought Hitachi in the past and never had a problem with my TV's. I did my research on 14 inch LCD's and the Sharp model I bought was recomended at the time.
