Poirier has elite skating (forwards and backwards), offense, and is one of the best stickhandlers in the draft. He has an amazing base, and defense can be coached into him.

The Flames moved down to pick up a couple 3rds and still got the guy they want.
The Flames use one of the 3rds to grab a guy projected late 1st/early 2nd. I wonder if Edmonton wanted him and when he went they traded their 3rd away.
This seems optimal.

I know goalies are a crapshoot and take ages to develop etc etc but I find Pittsburg taking goalies at 52 and 77 surprising since Jarry and DeSmith are both young-ish. Especially as their pool is so empty at forward

Pittsburg seemingly always good with developing goalies I guess and figure they'll make one of these guys a star in 5+ years. Not a bad move.
