something else haha

Markstrom has a lot of injury concerns. Previous hip surgery and knee surgery scares the crap out of me. He seems to be out for a good period of time every season.

Markstrom fills a hole not filled since Kipper left in 2013. There have been some decent and horrible goalies over the last 7 years but finally nailing down that top starter would be a huge pickup.
Been hoping for Markstrom since it leaked that Lehner was staying in Vegas. Markstrom+Hall is my absolute hope and I don’t think it is a wishing on a star type hope there is a chance 1 or both go down

Man is 30 already, knowing our luck he'll hit a wall soon.

Term and Cap are the considerations I need to know before having an opinion.

He would be decent for 2 years, and then cripple the franchise with another Neal contract.

Markstrom was a late bloomer with very few miles on him. At 4 years it would be a good signing. Almost every FA goalie contract comes with at least a year of bad contract. That's just the way it is.
This team just needs some kind of stability. Average goaltending from a guy who can play a starter's game load. Rittich and Talbot were only good for stretches.

Sounds good, hopefully it's a reasonable $ and term. Markstrom's pretty much the only reason the Canucks were competitive this year.

So everything then.
But you're right. This is manageable if it's for 5 or fewer years and 6 or fewer million dollars. If it's fewer years or significantly fewer million dollars, then great. If it's a penny more or a year longer, then it's a bad idea.

Markstrom is a top 5 goalie... Vancouver is a bottom 5 team without him last season
Health will likely be better on a team that doesn't allow 50 shots a game.

36 =/= 50.
I mean, I love Markstrom but his body is a legitimate concern right now and is very likely to be factoring in to current negotiations.
If he gets more than 5 years or more than 6 million it's going to be a bad contract. If the Flames were to get him and were to pay that, you're going to be cursing his name by year four. But those first three years would be good to great.

If the Flames sign him, do we reconsider adding the Swedish flag as a shoulder patch?

I have no real source, but my friend out of Vancouver is saying the speculation is that Calgary's offer is somewhere around $6mx6.
That is concerning if it comes true. Will be nice to have a legit #1 though.

There can’t be any offers, but undoubtedly the Flames are eager to go 5 years at $6M.
...if they add a 6th year, that’s where I get a bit worried, but ultimately I love the player and think he has the ability to win a Cup, so I’d be fine with it.

36 is ridiculously high for an average, you sound nervous
What is the worry exactly? To have great goaltending for four or five years and then maybe it falls off a bit?

Really want this to happen. I'm more excited about signing Markstrom than Hall.
Of course, don't want overpayment or too long of term either...

I have a source that says your source is a liar and that the Flames off is 7x7.
My source is still the voice in my head telling me everything will be alright.

It is high. It is also no where near 50.
I think you keep mentioning nerves for a reason. I'm cool either way. I want to keep Marky. It's Demko's time if we don't. My team isn't the one that desperately needs this signing =-o

Hey you, OEL is getting pretty excited about what type of 1 bedroom condo $8.25M a year can buy in Vancouver.

You need look no further than Bobrovsky to realize that over paying a goalie is a huge free agency risk. Bobrovsky is still a fine goalie, but jesus I am glad we arent paying him 10M. At some point it quits being worth it.
