Flip Ryan for another 3rd (next year) and sign Turris to replace him

Signing Turris cheap could help soften the blow of a Monahan trade if Bennett can step up in a bigger role. Trade Monahan for Dumba +.

Gaudreau - Bennett - Tkachuk
Hall - Backlund - Lindholm
Dube - Turris - Mangiapane
Lucic - Ryan - Reider

Giordano - Andersson
Valimaki - Dumba
Hanifin - Kylington

Bennett won't be the 1C on this team. Let's be honest with ourselves here.

I'd take Turris at the right price. We'd need to move out those same dollars thou... Flames need to add an impact player (and those cost) and while I still like Turris he isn't an impact player.

People are way too bullish on Bennett.

Ummm, Bennett at 1C? Let’s not get carried away.

If the Flames sign big UFAs and need to clear cap space, Turris would be a good replacement, if he can be signed cheap. Turris is also a right handed shot, who has some history of playing on the wing.

This team is better with Monahan in the #1 Centre position and Hanifin at #4, that it is with Bennett in the #1 Centre position and Hanifin at #5.

Turris had the 2nd most points last year of UFA RHS forwards

Toffoli 44
Turris 31 in 62
Craig Smith 31
Fast 29
Kovalchuk 26 in 46
Perry 21 in 57
B Ryan 8 in 24

Slim pickings of guys who are conceivably even available.

True, but Hoffman plays RW offwing and he’s more productive.

There were rumblings in Edmonton that Turris will be of great interest for the Oilers if he got bought out as the Oilers do need a right handed center quite badly.

I think there will be more than enough interest for Turris where he's not signing a PTO. I think there will be teams willing to go up to 3 per year on a 1-2 year deal. He's not that old, plays a premium position, and as a RH shot also adds an element that teams covet for Special Teams play.

Giving up any asset for Dumba, never mind our only closest thing to a 1C in Monahan, when Brodie can probably be just sign for a similar contract, is beyond ######ed.

Bennet is NOT a 1C during regular season, he's been the same playoff overachiever and regular season underachiever, every single year.
Neither is Backlund a 1C.
Our center depths will be horrible without upgrading on Monahan despite his flaws, may as well tear the team down and start from scratch if we are trading him away when Dumba is the main returning piece.

Just-forget-about-such-a-stupid-idea.

Even in a down year he was still at 0.5 P/GP. I see the Flames having real interest

But getting 0.50 points when you are still getting decent ice and PP time is pretty bad.

He’s a 4th liner on the Flame getting zero PP time, and likely getting 10-15 points.

He will get signed in the first week of free agency. There's something going on in Nashville where several players have played below career norms since going there. I could see him rebounding on another team. Would be a solid 3rd line center.

I'll take Turris for 800K-1M. Low risk high reward.
