I agree that the pick could easily be higher next year though I think next year's draft is tracking to not be nearly as deep.

I want Gunler in a trade up but there's TONS of talent rolling around.

I think it is because this year's draft is deeper and a 2020 3rd rounder is expected to be better than a 2021 3rd

I think there is a couple factors. This draft is deeper and they get to start developing ruining the draft pick a year sooner

I like Nybeck - but again I'm all about skill and upside.
He may slip to the 3rd
I would take a swing at Poirier with the 2nd.

That's the thing with this draft.

Lots of good pieces. Not sure moving up to draft a piece is the right move, better to have all your ammo.

Gives them another year to try and recoup the pick, plus lessens the immediacy of losing that NHL decision. Plus they have no second rounder (AA trade) so no 3rd would be pretty tough.
