Good god, at some point, if you are continuously the bridesmaid, you should really evaluate things.

Being the bridesmaid while watching others make dumb decisions is a good thing.

CBJ likely wouldn't have wanted Mangiapane anyway. They were after a player that could slot in as a 2C were they not?

Mangiapane has potential and I am a big fan but I think the roster needs bigger players. Anderson is big and has potential to become a strong middle 6 forward.. and a RW.
|
And Domi alone still didn't get it done,to beat that offer it's like Mangiapane and a 2nd,which would be a pretty awful trade for Anderson

Domi and EatBread are the same size, and EatBread out hits Domi significantly.
Edit: I misread and your size comments are regarding Anderson... my bad.

Anyone suggesting BRad should have outbid Montreal is being ridiculous. That was a horrible trade.

To an extent, I agree. At the same time, you need to pull the trigger at some point. Can't just be in on stuff over the past 2 years.
I know some of it is bad luck for sure. But being a GM is not supposed to be easy.

Not suggesting they should have done that. Just getting tired of the Flames always being the second team. Either commit or don't. This whole wishy washy approach is why this team is currently not a contender nor ready for a rebuild.

So let's assume Eat Bread was the player (though I bet it would have been Same they wanted).
What do you add to the player to make it happen and offer a better return than the Domi deal?
And at what point is the deal negative such that you walk away.
Get specific. Where's the tipping point for you between pulling the trigger and making a bad deal.
Eat Bread +2nd
Eat Bread + Kylington
Sam+3rd
Sam +2nd
Which of those do you do?
(I'm not sure if any of them with Eat Bread beat the Domi package)

Why? Those brides are often looking for divorce attorneys in a few years , Tre is clearly looking to not settle like those brides

Would you do Mangiapane for Keumper?

On top of that, personally, I wouldn't have been very happy with any of those trades being made (admittedly, I'm not a Josh Anderson fan).

Nah, I can be positive. Just don't like the current make-up of this team. I like watching the Flames win and do good things, many times I have been positive.
Nice to know you would rather attack me instead of having a discussion.

For me, it would be about a 1st round pick with Mangiapane I wouldn't do. 2nd+Mangiapane or Kylington+Mangiapane I would be okay with. Same thing with Bennett instead of Mangiapane.
As I said though, to me Mangiapane and Domi have similar values. Bennett is a tier below those guys.
Not saying I desperately want Anderson.. but just answering your questions with what I think.

What are you even talking about? You don’t think they should have outbid Montreal... but you’re upset they didn’t outbid Montreal?
No smart GM commits to the point of being locked in no matter how high the price goes, and as we’ve seen, it’s not like Treliving has never overpaid in a trade to get the guy he wanted. How did that work out exactly?
This whole “wishy washy” approach (not over committing) is part of being a good GM and a smart person in general. If you think this team is middling now, just wait until you see what happens when we overpay to win every trade.

I would think the opposite, meaning that Sam has more value as a potential centre and more upside. So I bet he was the guy that would have to be included. And I don't think I make a deal with him in there.
Of course its unlikely we ever find out. I personally never have grasped why there was so much buzz over Andreson, so my tolerance for a deal involving him is much lower. I'm surprised what he went for.

Haha I am not so sure about that. The GM makes his dumb decisions in Free Agency with buyouts happening almost every off-season. Let's not pretend Treliving is smarter than other GMs when evaluating talent.

Mangiapane and Domi cannot possibly have similar values across the league. Maybe to Flames fans but not elsewhere. Domi’s hit 72 points and has never been below .5 PPG. Plus he can play C.

Here’s the issue with your assumption; Mangiapane is a winger, Domi is a Center. There’s a difference. If you look at CBJ’s depth chart, they were looking to fill their 2nd line C position. Can you elaborate on why Kekalainen should have taken Mangiapane instead of Domi? You’re making broad based assumptions that are completely unfounded.
