Calgary was swirling around Anderson too but Habs were able to close the deal
Laine trade is complicated because of what teams need to give up to acquire him and then what kind of contract you would need to sign him to
OEL turned down St. Louis as well as Calgary and Edmonton and is just sticking to his two choices of Boston and Vancouver
As of this afternoon Friedman has heard Boston unlikely to land him...
Vancouver is the more likely destination
Treliving has been working hard
Thinks they had a interest in Josh Anderson and tried to close a deal before Habs got him
Basically every goaltender you can name he has checked on them
Also looking at D
Could make changes up front
Everyone is expecting Lundqvist to be a Washington Capitals
Wonders if Edmonton will take a long look at Jacob Markstrom

How may sweepstakes in a row now have you lost Brad? (Mind you Domi+3rd is outlandish)
Try to win the next one though, won't ya?

“I’m so mad that Brad lost that trade I think was horrible”.

Not sure that was much of a sweepstakes. Montreal wants to over pay? Be my guest Bergevin

You would have preferred if Treliving out did Montreal's offer?

I agree 100%, my gut says he might have been willing to one, but not both.
This is a terrible trade for Montreal IMO. This to me looks like trading Backlund and a 3rd for Ferland. (in value, not comparing Domi to Backlund in abilities)

okay, I didn't want him to beat that offer in this instance, but some of the past near-misses would've been nice.
Bishop, MAF, Kadri, Hall for these playoffs, maybe not Zucker though.

Well not much he could really do on the Kadri deal. Seeming kadri nixed it.

Bishop or MAF would have cost Tkachuk, no?
I'm happy with Treliving inquiring on everybody but sticking to his guns when it comes to trade cost.

Exactly. It amazes me how many people want to see him 'pay up' to get more trades done. Or criticize him for always being a bridesmaid.
I want a GM that is in on everything - always looking for ways to improve his team - but very tight about spending assets, only pulling the trigger when he gets what he feels is a good price.
When did these become bad qualities in a GM? Because for me, they are mandatory.

Personally I think it’s more important that a GM goes and gets what the team needs vs. hunting for bargains. I do believe there’s a difference.
I honestly don’t see the value in “being in on everything”. I wish people would stop talking about it, one way or the other.

I’m not saying a GM should pay any price. But identifying your need and outbidding the competition makes sense for the right player(s).
Of course I kind of wish BT had stuck to a lower price on some of his moves though.

Haha Treliving strikes out another player again.. its fine he made some trades yesterday but this guy just can't close a deal.. regardless of what people think of Anderson. Maybe he needs to change his approach a bit

Or maybe posters need to understand that closing every deal at any cost makes even less sense.
Are you unhappy that Treliving didn't give up Tkachuk for Bishop or Fleury?
Are you unhappy that Treliving didn't give up Johnny in a trade for Anderson?
